The 2014-15 NBA regular season continued on Thursday, April 2 with just three games. While the action may have been limited, it wasn’t without extreme importance to both the postseason and MVP conversations.
This is how it all transpired.
1. LeBron James put up 23 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, three blocks and a steal as the Cleveland Cavaliers dominated the Miami Heat 114-88. Kyrie Irving added 23 points and Tristan Thompson grabbed 15 rebounds off the bench as Cleveland earned a statement win.
James passes Patrick Ewing for No. 20 on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
2. Cleveland has won 17 consecutive home games.
3. Harrison Barnes only scored four points, but he sank the game-winner with 0.4 seconds remaining to give the Golden State Warriors a 107-106 victory over the Phoenix Suns. Stephen Curry stepped up with 28 points and eight rebounds for the Warriors, while Markieff Morris tallied 17 points, 12 rebounds and five assists for the Suns.
Golden State has won 11 consecutive games.
4. James Harden scored 24 points and dished out six assists to help the Houston Rockets pull out a 108-101 comeback victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Dirk Nowitzki scored 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting for the Mavericks, while Trevor Ariza put up 19 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals for the Rockets.
Houston has won six of its past seven games.
5. Houston improves to 45-13 when Harden scores at least 20 points. It’s 7-11 when he doesn’t.
Bonus Fact: The Warriors are 28-4 when Stephen Curry scores at least 25 points.
