There’s never a good time for a serious injury to a key player. John Wall $9200 (wrist) has multiple fractures in his left wrist and hand, leaving him officially “questionable” for Game Three tonight at home against Atlanta.
If he does suit up — which seems unlikely, despite the usual public optimism from player and team — it’s hard to imagine Wall being anywhere close to 100%. Ramon Sessions $4600 should once again be very important for Washington, Bradley Beal $7600 is arguably the best SG available and when the Wizards go small, Paul Pierce $5100 shifts to PF with Otto Porter $5400 taking advantage of big minutes off the bench.
DK matches your first deposit 100% (up to $600) with bonus funds that convert to cash, plus you get a FREE entry in the $75K Sharpshooter — the top score earns $5,000 and 5,800 of 28,736 teams will get paid. Odds are even better in the $75K Crossover, normally a $27 buy-in. That contest has 630 guaranteed cash prizes ($10,000 for first) and a maximum of only 3,168 teams.
Of course, Wall’s bad break (actually five) is timely for the Hawks. Paul Millsap $8800 is almost a must-own, with Al Horford $8100 and DeMarre Carroll $7200 also potentially the best choices at their positions. Kyle Korver $6500 is just 7-for-22 from deep (9-for-26 overall) through the first two games, which makes him due to get hot. Jeff Teague $7000 (ankle) is the weakest starter; Dennis Schroder $3700 the best bench player. Kent Bazemore $2100 and Pero Antic $2400 are better options than most at their salary level.
The Grizzlies managed a road split. Back home, that defense is even more ferocious. Stephen Curry $10600 is the league MVP, but Mike Conley $5600 was the hero of Game Two. “Too soon” after surgery for multiple facial fractures, wearing a mask, vision blurred, Conley scored 22 while holding Curry to 19. Marc Gasol $8000 and Andrew Bogut $5500 will fight it out inside; Zach Randolph $7300 battled Draymond Green $8200 to a draw on Tuesday.
My strategy is to use the maximum seven players from ATL @ WAS and just one from Memphis or Golden State, hoping points there are hard to come by. Tony Allen $5400, Courtney Lee $4800, Jeff Green $4000 and Vince Carter $2600 are possibilities. For the visitors, starting SF Harrison Barnes $4500 is affordable; sixth man Andre Iguodala $3800 is more valuable in the real NBA than fantasy.
You can make lineup changes until 5:00 Eastern. Enter early, before the best contests fill, then check for breaking news. If Wall does attempt to play, I’ll probably swap out Sessions for Conley and Lee for Iguodala.
