It’s time we start appreciating these Houston Rockets for what they are instead of wondering what could be down the road. For much of the 2014-15 season, the narrative about Houston for many around the NBA — myself included — has been more about the future than the present. Sure, today looked nice with James Harden and Dwight Howard, but general manager Daryl Morey seemed so close to forming a “Super Team” last summer with Chris Bosh and again at the trade deadline with Goran

Fantasy Spin: NBA Daily Action Resumes Tuesday; Try Baseball

SH Blog: What’s next for Marc Gasol, Paul Pierce, Tom Thibodeau after playoff exits?
The dust has settled on three great series, with three of the NBA’s toughest teams headed home. And each of those teams now has to turn their attention to the future, and what the future holds for the Bulls, Grizzlies and Wizards is still a little murky. Memphis, for instance, could lose its best player. Marc Gasol is a pending free agent, and Phil Jackson has long been rumored to be willing to back up James Dolan’s metaphorical Brinks truck for
Mock Draft 2.0: Post-Combine Edition
The NBA Draft Combine is complete, and with it player movement up and down draft boards has begun. This year, live scrimmages were added to the Combine to give scouts and GMs more of a sample to use for evaluating these prospects. 11. Indiana Pacers – Kelly Oubre, SF, Kansas Like many Jayhawks prospects, Oubre should be even better in an NBA system where he will have more scoring opportunities. As a rookie Oubre should be able to hit open jumpers, and if he develops his ball-handling skills to create his own scoring opportunities he could be very good. He averaged 9.3 points and 5.0 rebounds in just 21 minutes per game for Kansas, his best game coming when he got to the line
Mock Draft 2.0 — Picks 21-30
21. Dallas Mavericks – Jarell Martin, PF, LSU Martin is a prospect with great skills and can mix it up as a rebounder, however his combine measurements will go a long way toward determining how high he is drafted. The Tigers listed him at 6-foot-10, but he measured 6’8″ without shoes at the Combine with 10.1 percent body fat. Martin will be best suited to defend PFs in the NBA, but also has some versatility facing up to draw out defenders and help space
