You can’t pitch any better than Max Scherzer $12600 did last time out. Well, it was a bloop single and a walk away from absolute perfection — a complete game shutout with 16 K. He’s available only in Early DFS pools at DraftKings that close at 1:07 Eastern.
We need an inexpensive SP to pair with him; I’m between Jesse Hahn $6200 and rookie Carlos Rodon $5500, who needs a bounce-back from his worst start to stay in the rotation. Hitting wise, the Rockies have the best matchup and I like Oakland to have a couple of rallies off Jered Weaver $7200.
Our focus is on the other nine ballgames in evening contests at 7:05. There’s rain forecast in Philadelphia and New York, so be extra careful using those players.
DK matches your first deposit 100% (up to $600) with bonus funds that convert to cash. You’ll also get a FREE entry into this afternoon’s $50K Moonshot, which offers 3,840 cash prizes — $4,000 for first — and a maximum of 19,158 teams. It closes at 1:07, so enter early.
There are several very good pitchers going — Corey Kluber $10400 and Dallas Keuchel $9900 top the pay scale. Young guns Noah Syndergaard $9100 and Taijuan Walker $7400 are slightly more affordable and have plenty of upside. If you are bargain-hunting, try Robbie Ray $5600 or Erasmo Ramirez $5400e.
Buster Posey $4100 gave his owners 35 FPTS last night: three hits and a walk, 2 R, 4 RBI, a HR and a SB. Try Blake Swihart $3000 if you need to save.
Mighty Paul Goldschmidt $5600 is consistently great at 1B but does not come cheap. Eric Hosmer $4100 went deep last night and has fared well in the past against Rick Porcello $6600; all the Royals LH bats look good.
Dee Gordon $4600 is often my #1 choice at 2B, but tonight Giants teammates Joe Panik $3600 and 2B/3B Matt Duffy $3500 are worth a look against the Dodgers’ weakest starter.
At 3B Todd Frazier $5500 and Miguel Cabrera $5200 deserve their salaries. We liked Pablo Sandoval $4300 yesterday (2-for-4) and he might stay hot; Mike Moustakas $4000 might be the best value of all.
Hanley Ramirez $4600 is a nice price at SS (or OF) after a dinger on Friday. Alcides Escobar $3900 remains sharp and Didi Gregorius $3200 is showing signs of life.
Can’t afford Giancarlo Stanton $5600 tonight, though he’s always the most dangerous OF. I still like George Springer $4500 who produced again last night, but prefer Brett Gardner $5000 off that 4-for-5 with a homer. Alex Gordon $4100 is a sweet price, while Angel Pagan $3500 and Gregor Blanco $3100 both contributed to the Giants’ 9-run outburst on Friday.
