Yesterday it was Max Scherzer living up to his massive DFS salary at DraftKings with a no-hitter. Who will Sunday’s heroes be? Matt Harvey $10800 has been very good, just not dominant, in his return from Tommy John surgery. Masahiro Tanaka $10500 is pitching extremely well for someone with a tender elbow.
Michael Wacha $9100 is less expensive and extremely talented. A rain delay prevented him from racking up more points last time and he faces the anemic Phillies today. Jake Arrieta $9600 was uncharacteristically wild five days ago and should atone. After being no-hit on Saturday, the Pirates should scratch out a few runs off Gio Gonzalez $7400, making Charlie Morton $7600 a candidate for a W with another quality start.
DK matches your first deposit 100% (up to $600) with bonus funds that convert to cash. You’ll also get a FREE entry into this afternoon’s $75K Moonshot, which offers 5,800 cash prizes — $5,000 for first — and a maximum of 28,736 teams. Contests close at 1:05 Eastern.
Sunday hitting is subject to the whims of managers. It’s never more important to be sure about starting lineups. Catchers are especially volatile and almost always get a day off after a night game. Russell Martin $4600 got his rest on Friday, making him a safe bet. Matt Wieters $4300 will also play — he’s on an every-other-day schedule — and all the Orioles bats are playable. Last chance to use Kyle Schwarber $3500 until his next promotion; the slugger is going to Triple-A to work on his defense.
Anthony Rizzo $5300 and the Cubs might get to Kyle Gibson $6100 but 1B is extremely deep. 1B/3B Todd Frazier $5700 and teammate Joey Votto $5100 are often worth the money. C/1B Buster Posey $4200 has a good matchup as the surging Giants try to sweep the struggling Dodgers and take the NL West lead.
At 2B, Jason Kipnis $4900 is 5-for-7 this weekend already. While Dee Gordon $4800 is consistent and productive, his teammate Derek Dietrich $3600 (who plays third) had the hot stick with 2 HR on Saturday.
If you were with me on the Manny Machado $5400 bandwagon while his salary climbed from under $4000, you know how hot he is and won’t mind paying retail. Josh Donaldson $4600 usually costs more and is due for a big game. Love or hate Alex Rodriguez $4200, he is having a great comeback season and could homer for a third straight day.
There’s plenty of talent at SS with Hanley Ramirez $4600 and Jose Reyes $4500 worth the money. Brandon Crawford $3700 is my value pick and we told you yesterday that Didi Gregorius $3100 was heating up.
You can’t keep Bryce Harper $5600 down. After missing just one game with a sore hamstring, he returned with two hits including his 23rd homer. Nelson Cruz $5000 got the boomstick going again last night and faces a raw rookie. I loved Brett Gardner $4800 last night (3-6 with a 2B, 3B and 2 R) and he might keep it going. Charlie Blackmon $4300 is excellent value. Last year Travis Snider $3700 had a big second half; he’s heating up early. Josh Reddick $3500 both contributed to the Giants’ 9-run outburst on Friday.
