After a hard-fought tournament, getting past the likes of Germany and host nation Canada, the US Women’s National Team found themselves in the final one day after the Fourth of July. And the game provided plenty of fireworks, as the Americans, led by Carli Lloyd’s hat trick, scored four times in the first 16 minutes and never looked back as they defeated Japan 5-2 to claim their third World Cup.
Here’s what NBA players had to say about the game:
GOOOOOALLLL!!! #USWNT
