By now, we all know what happened between DeAndre Jordan and the Dallas Mavericks.
Long story short: Jordan agreed to sign with them at the beginning of free agency, changed his mind a week later after getting lured back in by Doc Rivers and company, signed with the Los Angeles Clippers for four years earlier in the week and devastating Mark Cuban and the Mavericks in the process.
The fact that Jordan changed his mind is unusual, but it was still his decision to make, he had the right to change his mind and did just that. The problem is that he royally screwed another franchise over in the process and never even bothered communicating with Cuban about any of it, which really isn’t okay. The Mavericks could have gone after another player if Jordan never agreed to join them, but sat comfortably for a week while other teams around the league scooped up whatever big men were available and drying up the market, firmly believing that their search for a center was already over.
Jordan owed Cuban and the the Mavericks a major apology, and finally decided to break his silence on twitter Friday:
I want to publicly apologize to one of the best owners in the world @MCuban, the @DallasMavs and their fans.

I am humbled by @DallasMavs & @MCuban kindness and understanding. I am sorry to have a change of heart.

Let’s get back to talking about basketball and winning games in 2015. Thank You! #ClipperNation @clippersteveb #Home pic.twitter.com/O9j4QFbU4h

The second tweet is interesting because it almost indicates that he has already spoken with Cuban privately, and that the owner was understanding about it all. If that’s not the case, then Jordan still owes the man a phone call.
