The main difference beteen All-Day and evening MLB contests at DraftKings is David Price $11500. On a holiday in Canada, there will be a packed house for his first start as a Blue Jay. If you want to use him, or Toronto bats, enter before 1:07 Eastern.
There are Turbo contests (8:05; 4 games) and Late play (10:05) but we’re going to focus on the ten game slate at 7:05.
Francisco Liriano $10800 vs. Jon Lester $10400 is a compelling duel. Corey Kluber $11700 and Garrett Richards $9800 square off in another high-salaried battle. Coming off a rare disappointing start, Felix Hernandez $9500 can succeed at Coors Field if anyone can.
Without much fanfare, Jose Quintana $8400 struck out 40 batters in July while walking only two. His teammates can provide enough support off Nathan Karns $7500 to make the lefty a value pick.
Plays of the Day
New to DK? Your first deposit earns a FREE entry into the gigantic $275K Swing For The Fences at 7:05 — the winner gets $100,000 and 20,958 teams out of a maximum 105,412 earn cash. All prize money is guaranteed even if it doesn’t fill. It’s normally a $3 buy-in, multiple teams are allowed and you can make lineup changes until each player’s game begins.
Whoever you like between Matt Cain $7000 and Mike Foltynewicz $5200, the price is right. Cain is ready to start going deeper into games and the hard-throwing Folty showed better control in his return to the Show. Wily Peralta $5800 is another possible bargain in his second start off the DL.
Yesterday they played a 2-1 extra-inning game in Oakland. Tonight Jesse Chavez $6800 is unlikely to blank the Orioles, who are going with callup Tyler Wilson $4500. The 25-year-old righty was pretty good in a May spot start and a 5.2 IP relief stint, but the A’s might get to him early and score more than usual at bargain prices.
Buster Posey $4500 tops the catchers and is also 1B-eligible. Both Astros’ C are hot: Hank Conger $3700 homered twice on Saturday and Jason Castro $3200 went deep yesterday. All-or-nothing Mike Zunino $2900 is at Coors off a rest day.
Lucas Duda $4600 has 9 HR in ten games and a 1.567 OPS. Will he stay hot in Miami? 1B/OF Mark Trumbo $4000 and all the Mariners get the mile-high effect, though they lose the DH.
That means 2B Robinson Cano $5000 (abdomen) may not start; he’s 1-8 as the DH since suffering the strain. Dee Gordon $4400 is a safer play. Well done if you had 2B/3B Jace Petersen $2800 yesterday (24 PTS.)
Manny Machado $4700 is still my guy at 3B but we need to save money somewhere. 2B/3B Anthony Rendon $3200 went 3-for-4 last night with a bomb to straightaway center off rookie sensation Noah Syndergaard — climb aboard the bandwagon.
Carlos Correa $5300 is making it look easy. Reminiscent of young A-Rod, he towers above other SS because Troy Tulowitzki is not in the evening pool. If you prefer to go cheap, Adeiny Hechavarria $3100 had five hits this weekend including a homer.
Fabulous pitching by the Mets stifled Bryce Harper $5700 all weekend. Back at home, against rookie RH Zack Godley $5000 instead of Harvey, DeGrom and Syndergaard, expect fireworks. Nelson Cruz $5900 might earn that much in Denver but we can’t afford two studs and are sticking with Carlos Gomez $4100 as solid value. Also affordable are Shin-Soo Choo $4500, Melky Cabrera $4200 and Billy Burns $4100. For a bargain OF, Sam Fuld $2400 reached base twice on Sunday from the 2-hole and three times on Saturday leading off.
