I like the Detroit Pistons and the Sacramento Kings as upstarts in the East and West. I also think the Milwaukee Bucks are going to be the funnest team to watch develop … but I am not alone in that opinion.
I am not on the Jahlil Okafor for MVP bandwagon. Other are, but I think it’ll be Stanley Johnson of Detroit (if the Pistons make the playoffs) or Emmanuel Mudiay of the Denver Nuggets for ROY.
As far as MVP, it is hard to pick against LeBron James … and I am not.
The Cavs are healthier and deeper, and the Golden State Warriors — for all the talk about making no changes … effectively swapped out David Lee for Jason Thompson, which is an upgrade in my book. So I have the Cavs and the Warriors playing a rematch in the NBA Finals.
As I have said before, predictions are like armpits … everyone has them, and most of them stink. But we all like to play the predictions game at the beginning of each new NBA season, and this year is no different.
My boldest prediction is that Kevin Durant will demand a trade … if certain things happen between now and the first week of February.
