Congratulations if you expected the Knicks to score 122 on the road and used bargains like Derrick Williams $3200, Kyle O’Quinn $3700, Sasha Vujacic $3000 and Langston Galloway $4200 in your lineups at DraftKings.
Rookies Kristaps Porzingis $4300 and Jerian Grant $3600 also contributed to the 25-point romp in their NBA debuts. Tonight will be their first back-to-back, at home to the Hawks.
Paul Millsap $7800, Al Horford $7600 and Jeff Teague $6900 will be determined to make amends after losing to Detroit. Dennis Schroder $4700 is a productive sixth man and for a starting wing, Kent Bazemore $3300 is cheap.
Plays of the Day
The $250K Sharpshooter is a $3 buy-in (FREE to new depositors at DraftKings) that pays the top 19,550 finishers from up to 95,833 teams. First place wins $20,000. Enter before it fills; make unlimited lineup changes until 7:00 Eastern. Even after contests close, you can make substitutions until each player’s game begins.
Dallas looked surprisingly good in Phoenix. The Suns starters were terrible and garbage time came early, so the Mavs shouldn’t be exhausted, though tonight is a much tougher test. Raymond Felton $3000 was a complete surprise with 18 PTS, 6 AST, 4 REB in a team-high 33 minutes. PG-eligible, he is the starting SG — Wesley Matthews $4800 moves to SF — until Chandler Parsons (knee) returns.
Always businesslike on the road, the Clippers won in Sacramento with Blake Griffin $9500 in beast mode: 33 PTS, 8 REB, 4 AST. Chris Paul $9600, DeAndre Jordan $7700 and J.J. Redick $51000 are all reasonably priced. As expected, starter Lance Stephenson $3200 got fewer touches than Paul Pierce $4000 (12 PTS, 7 REB, 24 MIN) off the bench.
Memphis must regroup on the road after last night’s 30-point drubbing in their home opener. Marc Gasol $8300 and Zach Randolph $7000 got very little help. Indiana blew a 16-point lead in Toronto by allowing the Raptors to score 69 in the second half. This is the least interesting of tonight’s three games for DFS play. Paul George $8200 was blanketed (4-17) by DeMarre Carroll but will be a triple-double machine against weaker defenses. George Hill $6000, easy for his teammates to find with that blond hair, looks strong and quick.
The daily Short List (below) is my overview; bold type indicates the players I’ve used in the sample lineup (above left) — just one of many I’m considering. It begins with four Hawks, Blake and two other Clippers. The Util spot is variable. Porzingis was simply the highest-salaried “upside” guy I could afford after committing to the other seven.
A couple of Pacers are undervalued. Ian Mahinmi $3900 will notch a few double-doubles as the starting center and C.J. Miles $3600 drained four triples for 18 PTS with three steals.
