Despite the fact that it has only been a week since the start of the 2015-2016 season, Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors have already reached a point where their dominance in the early going is causing a pandemonium around the league.
Mostly, though, it’s been the greatness of Curry and the ease in which he has owned the competition that has everyone shaking their heads in disbelief.
Heading into Monday’s contest against the Memphis Grizzlies – a team that took the Warriors to six games in the Western Conference semi-finals last season – the biggest question was whether Curry could reach an incredible milestone: he needed 46 points for the best scoring start in the history of the NBA.
That record didn’t come to fruition, but he did score 30 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field in just 28 minutes, including 21 points in the third quarter. That marks the third time in four games that Curry has scored at least 21 points in a single quarter, and the result of the contest was the Grizzlies’ worst loss in the history of their existence – a 50-point loss with the final score reading 119-69.
As he did against everyone else up to this point of the season, Curry simply toyed with the opposition and wowed the crowd with a number of dazzling plays:
The game was featured on NBATV, so plenty around the league had the chance to see what was supposed to be an intense game between two of the better teams in the league. Instead, they saw the Warriors demolish the Grizzlies and reacted as below:
Feeling like Tim can just leave this needle on this record… https://t.co/zZaLUmKu3R
