We got a few things right on Friday, predicting triple-doubles from Russell Westbrook and Rajon Rondo while making DeMarcus Cousins our top pick. There’s a 7-game NBA slate on Saturday, with one 3:30 Eastern start (DET @ LAC) that we’re ignoring at DraftKings. Their 7:00 contests span the other six games and offer the biggest prize pools.
As is often the case, the late games on the West coast offer DFS upside. Stephen Curry $10700 and the Warriors are back at home with a day of rest, hosting the tired Nets, who lost a tough one in Sacramento. Draymond Green $7000, Klay Thompson $6700 and Harrison Barnes $5300 are also playable. Brook Lopez $7000 is the most consistent player for Brooklyn.
The Nuggets surprised the Rockets last night and could have a slight letdown in Phoenix. Danilo Gallinari $6200 led the starters and Will Barton $4300 was terrific off the bench. Resting at home since upsetting the Clippers on Thursday, the Suns rely on Eric Bledsoe $8000 and Brandon Knight $7100 but Markieff Morris $5800 (knee) is questionable, which opens up opportunities for T.J. Warren $3700, P.J. Tucker $3400 and Jon Leuer $3200 to outperform those salaries. Tyson Chandler $5300 is stackable too.
Plays of the Day
The All-Day $35K Sharpshooter is just a $3 buy-in (FREE to new depositors at DK) that pays the top 2,750 finishers from up to 13,415 teams. First place wins $2,000. Enter before the 3:30 ET deadline; you can make unlimited lineup changes until each player’s game begins.
There’s another mismatch in San Antonio, an unlikely place for the 76ers to win their first game of the season. Kawhi Leonard $8200 (illness) and Manu Ginobili $4300 (adductor) are questionable, so the best Spurs to use are LaMarcus Aldridge $7000, Tim Duncan $6000 and Tony Parker $4200. It’s also a good night for Danny Green $4100 to break out. Expect Patty Mills $3200 and Boris Diaw $3100 to be given a little extra run off the deep, versatile bench.
Because Dwight Howard $7400 played last night, he will be rested this evening. Clint Capela $4800 will probably start, and Terrence Jones $5700 was fantastic off the bench after missing five games with an eye injury. James Harden $10100 always gives the Rockets a chance, but Ty Lawson $7000 and Marcus Thornton $5900 disappeared in Denver. I’m not a fan of the Mavericks in daily play, but Dirk Nowitzki $6500 poured in 31 points on Wednesday with 11 rebounds, proving he’s still dangerous.
Off a methodical win in New York on Friday, the Cavaliers won’t break any scoring records in Milwaukee. You can use LeBron James $9900, Kevin Love $7900 and maybe Timofey Mozgov $4000, but the Bucks are at home with two days of rest and an upset chance. Greg Monroe $8200, Giannis Antetokounmpo $7300 and Khris Middleton $5800 are reasonably priced, while Jabari Parker $3700 will return after sitting out a back-to-back.
Both Orlando and Washington are missing star guards. Victor Oladipo (concussion) and Bradley Beal (shoulder) are officially questionable; I’m treating them as doubtful. John Wall $8900 will need help from Marcin Gortat $5300 and Otto Porter $5200 to win on the road; Ramon Sessions $3200 is a possible bargain. With Nikola Vucevic $7800 back, the Magic has another weapon to go with Evan Fournier $6000 and Tobias Harris $5900. The best price is on Aaron Gordon $4000, though Channing Frye $3200 may start again.
