The Golden State Warriors continued their winning ways on Monday when they beat the Utah Jazz on the road 106-103 for their 19th consecutive victory, but as the score indicates, there was nothing easy about this particular game as things came down to the wire.
With the Warriors up by a single point, the Jazz had the final possession with 16 seconds left in the contest for a chance to walk away with a game-winning shot. Rodney Hood missed a 3-point try with five seconds left, however, Draymond Green hauled in the defensive rebound over Rudy Gobert, and Stephen Curry put the finishing blows with two free throws to end the contest.
The Jazz did their best to slow the pace and were right behind the Warriors throughout the night, showing why they are in the thick of the playoff race in the West with one of the better defenses (8th in defensive rating) in the league. The players shared how they felt about this one after the game on twitter:
Tough win tonight!

Great win vs a good young Utah team!!!! But we still 19-0 lets go #dubnation — Marreese Speights (@Mospeights16) December 1, 2015
Nineteen !!!! Always good to come back to Utah and see one of the stepping stones of my career…… #godubs

Great win! Ooooh…???????? #DubNation — Shaun Livingston (@ShaunLivingston) December 1, 2015
It’s worth noting that Shaun Livingston hit his first 3-pointer in a Warriors uniform during crunch time in the fourth quarter, hence the “okay” sign.
The Man… Smh… Got me again… Very seldom tho

Wouldn’t want to go to war with anybody else! — Joe Ingles (@Joeingles7) December 1, 2015
Here is where things got a little interesting. After the contest, Ben Dowsett of BballInsiders noticed Draymond Green and Stephen Curry expressing themselves in what the writer considered surprisingly disrespectful:
Can I be honest about something? I expected just a little more respect thrown the Jazz’s way from GSW’s locker room than what actually came. — Ben Dowsett (@Ben_Dowsett) December 1, 2015
Beyond Ian Clark, who might have more reason for frustration with Utah than anyone in there, lot of shrugs and chuckles on Jazz questions.
— Ben Dowsett (@Ben_Dowsett) December 1, 2015
Example: Draymond and Steph next to a TV showing Root Sports, with a tweet up about how the Jazz are playing “like champions”, or close. — Ben Dowsett (@Ben_Dowsett) December 1, 2015
Obv. a fan tweet, clearly. But both started laughing at it like it was the funniest thing they’d every seen. Dray yells “F**k that!”
— Ben Dowsett (@Ben_Dowsett) December 1, 2015
Both downplayed questions on Utah, and Steph straight up laughed at Utah’s switch on his big 3 at the end. I just didn’t expect that. — Ben Dowsett (@Ben_Dowsett) December 1, 2015
Listen, these guys are entitled to every bit of ego they want at this point. It was just surprising to me.
— Ben Dowsett (@Ben_Dowsett) December 1, 2015
Again, this isn’t close to sour grapes. Those guys have earned this. Just esp. in Steph’s case, it’s not what you expect is all. — Ben Dowsett (@Ben_Dowsett) December 1, 2015
Presumably after seeing these tweets, Gobert had this to say:
Man what a game…tough loss but im sure about one thing, i see GREATNESS in our future. #laughwhileyoucan #OnToTheNextOne
— Rudy Gobert (@rudygobert27) December 1, 2015
It sounds as though Gobert may now have a chip on his shoulder when it comes to facing the Warriors – perhaps Green and Curry in particular. For what it’s worth, Dowsett went on to correct himself about Curry’s reaction to a particular question, which is pretty relevant given what was originally reported about the way the point guard was supposedly carrying himself:
Mea culpa: I misheard Steph’s quote RE Jazz switches. Wasn’t laughing at it. Doesn’t change my overall point, but should be said. — Ben Dowsett (@Ben_Dowsett) December 1, 2015
To be very clear, I misheard a quote RE switches. I did NOT mishear (or mis-see) the story I told RE Dray and the TV.
— Ben Dowsett (@Ben_Dowsett) December 1, 2015
I also did not mishear any of the other quotes or general downplays I’m talking about. My (VERY respectful) point has not changed, nor will. — Ben Dowsett (@Ben_Dowsett) December 1, 2015
UPDATE: After seeing the accusations made by Dowsett, Green denied some of the claims made and came down pretty hard on the writer:
Yo @ben_dowsett why you lying bruh? Trying to make your name bigger off lying? Want more importance? Report something worthwhile & true!
— Draymond Green (@Money23Green) December 1, 2015
You mad corny dude and media privileges should be revoked coward @ben_dowsett — Draymond Green (@Money23Green) December 1, 2015
But there you go… I just helped get you some attention @ben_dowsett
— Draymond Green (@Money23Green) December 1, 2015
I get along with just about all the media very well… But, the NBA need to tighten up on who get a credentials to the locker room!!! — Draymond Green (@Money23Green) December 1, 2015
Even Curry, who never really gets involved in controversies like this, had something to say about the matter:
Hey @Ben_Dowsett….that’s a personal foul………..“REACHING” pic.twitter.com/eM8FbOL4Mr
— Stephen Curry (@StephenCurry30) December 1, 2015
Andrew Bogut also chimed in on the situation:
Prime example of why @NBA needs to cut back media credentials. Ppl stand in corner not interviewing anyone and listening in on coversations
— Andrew Bogut (@andrewbogut) December 1, 2015
Then try to be heroes and tweet/quote things from eavesdropping. We often have PPL in locker room with credentials who interview NOBODY!
— Andrew Bogut (@andrewbogut) December 1, 2015
Dowsett was already having a hard time dealing with some of the lash backs on his story, so these reactions by the players themselves probably won’t make his day feel any easier.
