When you think of Joe Johnson’s play for the Brooklyn Nets this year, some of the words that come to mind include underwhelming, disappointing, mediocre and any other word that describes a pretty terrible year for someone who is in a contract year and is getting paid nearly $25 million to average 11.8 points on 40 percent shooting from the field.
To be fair, he has been playing worlds-apart better since the calendar hit 2016 compared to the first two months of the season when he shot under 36 percent from the field. On Monday against the Denver Nuggets, Johnson reminded us of some of the things he once was able to do regularly, including a devastating crossover on Jusuf Nurkic and a game-winning 3-pointer.
MONEY… @TheJoeJohnson7 off glass… for three.. and the @BrooklynNets win!https://t.co/T6Ls7pz7pZ — NBA (@NBA) February 9, 2016
Nurkic took one of the finest tumbles of the season trying to guard Johnson from the arc, but took the embarrassing moment well after the game:
Don’t worry guys, my ankles are okay. Just need a little ice ????????. Good play by Jonson.
