Anyone who plays in traditional or daily fantasy hoops knows the regular season is full of surprises down the stretch. Kevin Durant and LeBron James both resting, the Magic scoring 139 with eight guys in double figures — last night was typical for this time of year.
Yes, we are still a basketball site. Yes, you can still take advantage of the many NBA lineup changes to win money in DFS contests. But there are other sports to consider, where a Grand Slam is always exciting.
Major League Baseball begins next weekend. You can already enter the April 4 $300K Moonshot, with over 23,000 cash prizes ($20K to first.) The $3 entry fee is waived for new signups. Closers don’t matter in DraftKings hardball; simply pick two pitchers and eight hitters within the $50K salary cap.
Win $1,000,000 On The Masters
On April 7, you can become a millionaire for $20. The $4M Fantasy Golf Millionaire has a top prize of $1,000,000. It’s certainly not all-or-nothing; the remaining $3,000,000 in the prize pool will be paid out to more than 48,000 other winners. Draft six golfers for $50K or less, who earn points throughout the Masters for birdies, eagles, overall finish and more.
The Shell Houston Open is the PGA final tournament before Augusta, and DK offers Satellite contests closing tomorrow (Thursday) morning at 8:20 Eastern. $20 too steep? For as little as 25 cents, you can earn a spot next week’s Millionaire by winning a Satellite or Super Satellite this weekend. Look for $1, $3 or $5 contests in the Lobby.
For our loyal readers, here’s my quick hit on tonight’s nine-game NBA slate. If DeMarcus Cousins $10200 (rest) is feeling 100%, he’ll be a load for the tired Wizards, who are three games out of eighth place with time running out. Rajon Rondo $7600 (rest) should also return and Willie Cauley-Stein $4300 has been a beast for three straight games.
Ricky Rubio $7200 has also been sharp lately, but Chris Paul $9600 is a tough matchup, just as DeAndre Jordan $7900 is no easy assignment for Karl-Anthony Towns $8400. The Wolves also have Andrew Wiggins $6500 coming off a 32-point effort and Gorgui Dieng $6100 will be tough for any of the Clippers’ PF to stop.
At home against a weak opponent, Giannis Antetokounmpo $9300 and Khris Middleton $6500 are due to break out. Jabari Parker $5500 is a nice price, John Henson $3400 even better. Brandon Knight $7300 could be inspired against his former team, while Alex Len $5800 and Devin Booker $6700 can stay hot.
As you know, we like every team against the Lakers. While Miami can manage minutes for anyone tired or hurt, they should still get the W to maintain fourth seed in the East. Younger Heat players like Hassan Whiteside $8400 and Josh Richardson $4700 are the best targets.
Dallas is at home for a must-win vs. the Knicks. With Deron Williams (groin) out, J.J. Barea $5000 and Devin Harris $3200 are solid value, while Dirk Nowitzki $7100, Wesley Matthews $4900 and Raymond Felton $4600 are also affordable. Carmelo Anthony $8500 and Kristaps Porzingis $6500 lead the visitors.
Devastated by injuries, the Grizzlies have lost seven of nine. A visit from Denver might help. Matt Barnes $5300, JaMychal Green $5000, Lance Stephenson $5400 and Jordan Farmar $3900 are all worth considering. If Jusuf Nurkic $4300 (illness) sits out again, Emmanuel Mudiay $5600 and Nikola Jokic $5600 should lead the Nuggets.
Kawhi Leonard $7700 (quad) is expected back after missing three games, but LaMarcus Aldridge $7700 should continue to lead the Spurs’ attempt to go unbeaten at home for an entire season. They will need just three more wins after tonightagainst the injury-ravaged Pelicans.
