Thinking about placing a wager on who is going to take home the NBA Finals this year?
You have come to the right place.
Each year several Web sites and sports journalism outlets take a detailed look at the future odds for every team to win the championship. Usually those odds are released first by Westgate, but this year there has been a speeded-up process due to the changes in U.S. sports gambling laws.
One forecaster who makes particularly astute observations is Jimmy Boyd of BoydsBets.com, and he is out with a new post on Vegas odds to win the Finals.
An excerpt: ”
With the 2018 NBA draft in the books and several big free agent moves having already taken place, now is a great time to check the future odds.
“No surprise that the Warriors are the overwhelming favorites to win it all. Golden State is currently listed at -175, which is a decent jump from their opening number of +125. The Warriors weren’t the team you would expect to make a big splash in free agency, but they managed to land one of the best big men in the game in DeMarcus Cousins. As it stands right now, it’s hard to envision any team stopping Golden State from winning their third straight title. One of the things we didn’t know after checking the odds after the Finals, is where LeBron James would be playing next season. Oddsmakers shaded the odds on several of LeBron’s top suitors, but they seemed to have a good idea that it would be the Los Angeles Lakers that would land James, as they had the Lakers sitting at +1200. They were right and those that jumped on LA early got a great price, as the Lakers are now tied with the Rockets for the second best odds in the West at +650. James leaving the Eastern Conference also had a big impact on the Celtics odds. Boston figured to be a legit contender after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals a year ago without Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward. They are now the clear-cut favorites in the east and have the second best odds of any team to win the title at +500. The only other team with odds better than 40 to 1 are the 76ers at +1400.”

I will give you a hint: Mr. Boyd is enamored of a team with a point guard whose wife recently gave birth to a newborn. Enjoy.
