I’m not a doctor and haven’t seen the MRI, but my ‘diagnosis’ is, the desert heat in Phoenix would be a miracle cure. For fantasy purposes, he’s out indefinitely. Sorry about your luck, Gordon owners. You can’t cut him until there’s some tangible news, like another surgery.

OKC @ SAS: It hasn’t been a great week for the Thunder. They have been roasted in some quarters for trading away James Harden, and they lost their season-opener on a buzzer-beater by Tony Parker, who finished with 14 points, 11 assists and a triumphant scream. Tim Duncan (20 PTS, 8 REB, 3 BLK) was also stellar, and with Manu Ginobili (back spasms) sitting out again, Danny Green (13) and Stephen Jackson (11) got some extra run. Boris Diaw (10 PTS, 7 REB, 4 AST) played 35:20 at C, with Tiago Splitter (4:16) an afterthought and DeJuan Blair (10:31) seeing his first limited action.
Kevin Durant (23 PTS, 14 REB, 5 AST) played well enough, but Russell Westbrook (18 PTS, 8 REB, 5 AST) will have better nights; he hit only 6 of 21 from the floor and had 6 TO. Serge Ibaka was in foul trouble and scored just four points, but his 9 REB and 2 BLK salvaged something for fantasy owners. So far, Kevin Martin is 22 points behind Harden; he played 32:31, scored 15 (including three triples) and handed out five assists in his OKC debut. Rookie Perry Jones III didn’t get off the bench; we suspect he’ll put up big per-minute numbers in garbage time before earning a consistent rotation spot.
The weather-related cancellation of the much-anticipated Battle of New York at the spiffy new Barclays Center is disappointing to every NBA fan, especially those in Brooklyn. The game will be made up on November 26, so H2H owners who ‘lost’ starts by their Nets and Knicks this week will get them back in Week 5.
