Yes, that’s safe to say. Wish I could have said the same about the Rangers earlier tonight. Anyway, the Grizzlies evened up the series with the LA Clippers, winning 105-98. It was a much needed victory, considering their epic meltdown in the last matchup. This is one of those series where neither team looks significantly better then the other, and I really do expect it to go to 7 games, as the Clippers are a very good team at
A much needed bright spot for the Knicks; Tyson Chandler winning Defensive Player of the Year Honors. He had 45 first place votes (311 points), and was followed by Serge Ibaka who had 41 first-place votes (294 points) and and Dwight Howard, who had 186 points. The award seemed dominated by big men, as Kevin Garnett finished 5th, and I was a bit shocked to not see Shawn Marion in the discussion. Tyson Chandler’s award was much deserved, as
Not the first bold statement Kobe has ever made, but still a respected one. Anyway, Kobe had his game going last night in the Lakers 104-100 win over the Nuggets, with 38 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block. There’s no question how hungry Kobe is for another ring, and if the Lakers continue playing like this, they may be a serious problem in the playoffs. They are without question in the same conversation as the
Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse for the Knicks, Amare Stoudemire apparently sustains a hand/arm injury because he decided to punch a “fire extinguisher” in anger stemming from tonight’s loss to the Heat. Early reports claim he looks to be questionable for game 3-4, as it’s only a laceration, and X-Rays were not necessary. Regardless, the next 24 hours are going to be a circus surrounding Amare and the implosion of the Knicks, and if Amare
Everybody by now is aware of the amazing comeback of the Clippers by now. It was extremely impressive, even if it was accompanied by the loss of Caron Butler for the rest of the playoffs. (4-6 weeks, broken hand) The more important story, I believe, is that of the Boston Celtics. The Celtics lost Game 1 to the Hawks, and it could have been one had Rajon Rondo not got tossed. On top of that, he now faces possible
The Knicks got blown out (literally) today in Miami, losing 100-67. Sadly enough, the game was worse then the score even showed. Carmelo Anthony did nothing, Novak couldn’t find any space, and the Knicks were just a collective mess. However, regardless of the outcome, I would have held out hope for the Knicks. If they could take Game 2 in Miami, they would be in pretty decent shape, and anything could happen. But with Shumpert out, I pretty much
This seems to be one of those statistics that LeBron James critics would feed off of. However, it is worth mentioning, the only other players other than James himself to win multiple MVP’s and never win a championship are Karl Malone and Steve Nash, two of the all-time greats. We all know James is great, nobody is denying that. But if he does win his third MVP and flunks again in the playoffs, well, there really is no excuse.
Interesting, as this game has had little to no defense whatsoever. Durant has 18 points already (6:18, 2nd Quarter), and the DeMarcus Cousins has 16. The score is 52-47 Kings, but the scoring barrage has at least slowed a bit. They had a combined 75 points in the first quarter, while the Heat-Celtics game had 17 in the first combined. Maybe the Thunder are just taking this game easy and getting ready for the playoffs, so I’m not reading
