The Golden State Warriors have scheduled a news conference for 1 p.m. ET where they are expected to announce plans to move the franchise from Oakland to San Francisco later this decade. A press release called it “a major announcement,” with San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, Warriors Co-Chairs Joe Lacob and Peter Guber, and NBA commissioner David Stern in attendance. A report in the San Francisco Chronicle has the details, with the Warriors planning to move to a waterside site in the
Celtics keep upper hand on Sixers, Thunder send Lakers packing
In the biggest game of the season for the Boston Celtics, the Big Four took a back seat to the Other One. All of the attention in Boston rightfully goes to Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo. They are the only four players remaining from the team’s last championship in 2008 and comprise perhaps the best quartet in the NBA. They are the reason the Celtics are still in the title hunt when most felt their window of
Jeremy Lin, Kyrie Irving on USA Select Team
Linsanity has continued into the offseason as New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin was one of the 13 players chosen for the USA Select Team that train against Team USA in advance of the Olympics. The players were revealed Monday by USA Basketball. The baker’s dozen includes point guards and top overall picks Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers and John Wall of the Washington Wizards. Lin, whose rise from obscurity to stardom earlier this season transcended basketball, missed the playoffs while
Bernucca: Any of East’s four teams could reach the NBA Finals
Did the Boston Celtics take the bait? After the Celtics easily handled the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 3, reclaiming home-court advantage and the upper hand in their series with a convincing win, Sixers coach Doug Collins tried to plant a seed of overconfidence in Gang Green. “I think they are looking at that other series a little bit,” Collins said. “I think they see Chris Bosh being out (for Miami). They see a tremendous opportunity for themselves.” Whether Boston did or didn’t, it

Bernucca: Hatred of LeBron makes him this generation’s Wilt Chamberlain
Yesterday was another morning after for LeBron James. The morning after James played the entire second half, defended every position on the floor except center and collected 28 points, nine rebounds, six steals and five assists, doing all he could to pick up the slack for missing All-Star teammate Chris Bosh and struggling superstar teammate Dwyane Wade, who missed 14 shots, including a potential go-ahead layup in the final minute. It was also the morning after James missed five free throws, including
The Bernucca List – Edition 25
We didn’t think last week’s edition of The Bernucca List was a stumper, but apparently it was, because no one came up with the right answer. Before we give the answer and move onto this week’s list, we will give everyone another chance. So click here and don’t read any further. Give up? The list is “active coaches who have lost a Game 7 at home.” Boston’s Doc Rivers actually has lost twice in a Game 7 at home – in 2005 to
