One thing about going on the Sid Rosenberg show in Miami: You are going to hear the bombastic (and talented) host speak out of both sides of his mouth — usually with some venom and some spice. Sid hails from New York, but he has been living in the sunshine for a few years now. Sid knows the Heat, he knows the Knicks, and he has a pulse for what folks in both cities are feeling and thinking. His take on Miami
Hakim Warrick traded to Charlotte for Matt Carroll
If you go by the axiom that it is always a good thing to trade a small for a big, the Charlotte Bobcats made a nice move today by acquiring forward Hakim Warrick from the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for shooting guard Matt Carroll. The move should give the Bobcats an extra defensive presence, which is something you need when you are ranked 30th in the NBA in points allowed (107.2). [Read more…]
Stunner: Mike D’Antoni hired as coach of Lakers
Remember when we told you this might be more about Jim Buss than Phil Jackson? Turns out that may be a big reason why Mike D’Antoni signed a four-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers late last night, and why Phil Jackson will remain unemployed/semi-retired. The stunning news broke while most of California and the rest of America was asleep. [Read more…]
Bynum could be sidelined into January
PHILADELPHIA — The news keeps getting worse for Andrew Bynum and his bum knee, no matter how optimistic the Sixers are trying to make it sound. [Read more…]
Cousins suspended two games for confronting Sean Elliott, Spurs broadcaster
DeMarcus Cousins was suspended for two games by the NBA for confronting Spurs broadcaster Sean Elliott two nights ago in Sacramento, postponing the first meeting between the two best centers in the Western Conference. So what exactly happened between Cousins and Elliott? From

Harden has been unavailable twice in 3 days; Asik for 3 straight weeks. This on a team in which Hakeem did every interview for 17 years. — Jonathan Feigen (@Jonathan_Feigen) November 11, 2012 I expect the folks at NBA Communications are going to raise a little fuss with the Rockets. The league actually has media access rules, and although they are openly flaunted by a majority of the 30 teams, a crackdown can happen if it gets out of control. Harden isn’t doing
Sheridan Hoops MVP Rankings After Week Two
Special mention atop this column is deserved for Andre Iguodala, Nicolas Batum and Tony (SLJW) Allen, three of the league’s best man-on-man defenders who all had a chance to guard James Harden over the past week. Not that Harden is a marked man or anything, but after going for 37 and 45 in his first two games — and earning the No. 1 ranking in last week’s edition of these rankings — the guy should strike a personal endorsement deal with
Bucher says Phil Jackson wants Jim Buss out as de facto GM
There is a lot of speculation and conjecture out there today regarding Phil Jackson’s possible return to the Los Angeles Lakers, but one piece of information has a lot more meat on the bone than others. It comes from Ric Bucher, formerly of ESPN and now writing hoops for CSNBayArea.com, and it says one of Jackson’s desires is to have final say on personnel decisions — which would render both Jim Bus and Mitch Kupchak relatively powerless.
