NEW YORK — The NBA, Shelly Sterling and the Sterling Family Trust today resolved their dispute over the ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers, the league announced. Under the agreement, the Clippers will be sold to Steve Ballmer, pending approval by the NBA Board of Governors, and the NBA will withdraw its pending charge to terminate the Sterlings’ ownership of the team. Because of the binding agreement to sell the team, the NBA termination hearing that had been scheduled for June 3
Sheridan’s Top 25 Free Agents for Summer of 2014
We are still more than a month away from free agency, and everything seems so placid now. LeBron James? Looks primed for a three-peat. Carmelo Anthony? He wouldn’t leave New York, would he? He’ll be happy to take less than the max, as Phil Jackson has said he’ll need to do. He will be the backbone of the Knicks’ renaissance, right? No chance those two guys end up in Cleveland or Dallas. No chance, right? Well, five weeks out, and nobody can
DraftStreet Fantasy Spin, May 30, 2014: Shame on Matt Bonner
Click on this banner to sign up for DraftStreet’s two-day NBA playoff fantasy leagues Yeah, I really felt like the smart guy yesterday evening when I got on the computer immediately after hearing that Matt Bonner was starting and added him to my lineups. It enabled me to drop Steven Adams and Kawhi Leonard and and a third superstud, Kevin Durant, to a team that already included Russell Westbrook, LeBron James and Tony Parker. I was not the
Winning bid for Clippers is $2 Billion
Two billion dollars. Want to see the zeroes? $2,000,000,000. That is what the Los Angeles Clippers will be sold for, unless Donald Sterling can somehow prevent it. This is just nuts. [Read more…]

DraftStreet Fantasy Spin, May 29, 2014: Will LeBron James bounce back?
Click on this banner to sign up for DraftStreet’s two-day NBA playoff fantasy leagues We get three more nights of fantasy basketball, and maybe more. Thank you, Indiana Pacers — and you, too, LeBron James, for passing instead of shooting on that final possession. That is the only thing I am saying thank you to James for, because I keyed most of my fantasy teams toward having him on them, and he produced the lowest-scoring playoff game of
DraftStreet Fantasy Spin, May 28, 2014: Last Call?
Click on this banner to sign up for DraftStreet’s two-day NBA playoff fantasy leagues This will be the final fantasy column I will write this season, if — and that is a big if — the Miami Heat win tonight in Game 5 against the Indiana Pacers. If that is indeed the case, I will walk away triumphant. In the Monday-Tuesday contests that I entered, I finished in 2nd place in two of them _ a $2 entry-fee
PODCAST: Free Agency and the LeBron equation; the Gordon Hayward factor; and more on David Blatt
Nobody in America is going to bat quite as hard for David Blatt as myself and my staff. An open letter to Phil Jackson was part of our push, and in this interview on 1280TheZone in Salt Lake City the subject came up again. Now, I do not know if the Jazz have interviewed or plan to interview Blatt. But I would bet the mortgage that Kevin O’Connor and Dennis Lindsay of the Jazz front office know who he is, and as
