Aside from the fact that they are an infinitely disappointing team this season, the Cleveland Cavaliers have some serious problems on their hands. One of them, of course, is the lack of productivity from their first overall pick Anthony Bennett, but we’ll save that issue for another day. The biggest problem is their supposed franchise point guard Kyrie Irving. It was recently mentioned in our blog that Irving had noticeably changed – not for the better – since coming back from last season’s
Tweet of the Night: Joe Johnson reacts to All-Star reserve selection, Patrick Patterson upset with pick
The All-Star reserves were announced on Thursday, and while there were some snubs (there are always snubs), the players that made it were all deserving. Well, almost. To the surprise of many, Joe Johnson of the Brooklyn Nets made the roster for the East. The Nets have played tremendously well in the month of January to bring their record up to 20-23, but it’s still a losing record, and Johnson is averaging 15.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists on the season
SH Blog: Morey says Royce White may be the worst first-round pick ever; Knicks chasing Rondo
SHOULD KOBE BRYANT COME BACK THIS SEASON? Whether this season is worth coming back to for Bryant was the topic between Bleacher Report’s Ric Bucher and Howard Beck. Beck says the guard should probably sit out the entire season because there is nothing to come back to. The Los Angeles Lakers are an injury-ridden mess and are certain to miss the playoffs, so what’s the point? The issue with sitting Bryant out even if he can come back is this: he needs
Tweet of the Night: Isiah Thomas says there has never been anyone like Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant or LeBron James? That has been the question many have been asking since Durant’s incredible scoring run in the month of January. Prior to Oklahoma City Thunder’s matchup against Miami Heat on Wednesday, the forward had scored at least 30 points or more in 11 consecutive games, going 8-3 in that span – all without All-Star guard Russell Westbrook. For Durant, this stuff matters. He openly admit last season that being second to LeBron James in everything was not something
Tweet of the Night: Steve Kerr says no one will want to face the Grizzlies in playoffs
When Marc Gasol went down with a scary knee injury in late November, the Memphis Grizzlies were a modest 7-6 to begin the season. Without their reigning Defensive Player of the Year, the Grizzlies were a subpar 10-13 and many around the league began to wonder if they would even make it back to the playoffs in the ultra-competitive Western Conference. SH Blog: Bryant still weeks away from return, La La thinks Anthony will remain in New York
Don’t expect Kobe Bryant to return to game action any time soon. The Los Angeles Lakers guard missed his first 19 games of the season after undergoing offseason surgery on his torn Achilles tendon. When he did return, Bryant managed to last just six mostly-underwhelming games before suffering a fractured leg that has kept him out of action for the last 20 games. According to Kevin Ding of Bleacher Report, Bryant won’t be back for at least another two weeks and perhaps even longer:
Tweet of the Night: Tracy McGrady rips Milwaukee Bucks for being such a bad team
Prior to the start of this season, there were some who believed the Milwaukee Bucks had enough talent on the roster to be a playoff team in the Eastern Conference. 44 games later, they sit with an 8-36 record – the worst in the NBA – and is the only team that has yet to reach double-digit victories. Most of their offseason moves have failed to make a difference, and there appears to be much general discontent in the locker room
NBA players react to Carmelo Anthony’s historical night
It has been a down year of sorts for Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks. After coming off a year in which they were the second best team in the Eastern Conference, the Knicks have struggled mightily to a 16-27 record – fifth-worst in the conference. With news that offseason acquisition Andrea Bargnani would be out indefinitely due to a torn elbow ligament, some wondered whether the team’s fortunes would turn for the better. The reason? Anthony would return to the
