Here are the probable starters and backups for all 30 teams. It’s a work in progress, to be updated every week throughout the season — most recently March 17 — reflecting injuries and role changes. We list the ten players on each team expected to receive the most minutes. Not all rosters are equal in the NBA, or in fantasy hoops. Some coaches use short rotations; even their ninth man rarely contributes. Other teams are extremely deep — the Spurs have a
Fantasy Spin: September 11, 2012
Yesterday we talked about context — especially keeper leagues vs. redraft leagues — being a significant part of any player’s fantasy value. We didn’t even mention custom scoring. There are leagues where missed free throws don’t matter, making Dwight Howard a must-own instead of a category-killer. Turnovers are also not counted everywhere; I’m in more than one league where A/T (assist/turnover ratio) is used instead. Adjust the order of any or all of these names to better reflect your league’s settings. Tomorrow
Fantasy Spin: September 10, 2012
Welcome to the first full season of the Fantasy Spin. From now until the NBA tips off, we’ll help you prepare to draft. All year long, we’ll keep track of injuries, role changes, suspensions and more. Every morning, we’ll recap who’s hot, who’s not and who looks best on the waiver wire. Follow us on Twitter @SheridanFantasy for updates. Joining me on the beat are two terrific writers who excel at all fantasy sports, not just hoops. Over the years, we
Fantasy Spin: Friday May 4
Tonight (and tomorrow) it’s the Sheridan Hoops Freeroll, with $250 cash in prizes, absolutely free to play. DraftStreet, which offered one-day NBA leagues all season, now extends them over two days, so tonight’s three games not only decide May 3-4 leagues, they kick off May 4-5 leagues like the Freeroll. There is a wider assortment of great players to choose from as a result. Scroll down for more info and my picks. Thursday Recap MIA @ NYK: That was ugly. LeBron James was
Fantasy Spin: Thursday May 3
Most traditional fantasy basketball leagues are finished, but fantasy hoops continues on DraftStreet during the playoffs. Instead of one-day leagues (8-man teams with a $100,000 salary cap) they are now extended over two days. That was a great call: tonight’s two games will decide May 2-3 leagues and kick off May 3-4 leagues. The pool of players improves dramatically with the 2-day duration. Scroll down for my selections. Wednesday Recap LAC @ MEM: The evening’s best game by far. The Grizzlies took
Fantasy Spin: Wednesday May 2
Real life got in the way for a couple of days, but the NBA playoffs are heating up. Even though your Roto league may be finished, fantasy basketball continues. I’ve been playing on DraftStreet for a couple of months now. (Click the link to join for free.) Their daily leagues during the season — now 2-day leagues during the playoffs — are a great challenge. Tuesday Recap BOS @ ATL: Josh Smith left with a knee injury after scoring 16 points, with
Fantasy Spin: Sunday April 29
The unfortunate injury to Derrick Rose is awful for him, the Bulls, their fans and the league. It also hurts some fantasy owners in postseason tournaments, like the guy who drafted him third overall at Fantasy Postseason. I’m leading the Sheridan Fantasy league there after one day, thanks in part to 9 PTS on 6-7 shooting by Richard Hamilton. We’re counting total points through the entire playoffs but FP also offers H2H leagues. Suddenly, C.J. Watson is worth a lot more and
Fantasy Spin: Saturday April 28
There’s still time to enter a special Freeroll that covers today’s games and Sunday’s. It closes at 1:00 Eastern, so enter there first, then come back here. There’s no entry fee and $250 cash in prizes, not to mention bragging rights for beating me and Chris Sheridan. I’m in a 12-team Sheridan Fantasy league at the Fantasy Postseason site. Drafting sixth, I picked Russell Westbrook over Tony Parker. When my next turn came, Serge Ibaka was still there, then the pickings
