2014 NBA Draft Trades Analysis

When it comes to trades, the 2014 NBA draft hasn’t been quite as nuts as last year. Nevertheless, there have been a handful of deals. Here’s a breakdown: Philadelphia 76ers trade Elfrid Payton to Orlando Magic for Dario Saric, 2015 second-round pick and 2017 first-round pick. Philadelphia didn’t need another point guard with Michael Carter-Williams entrenched at the position, and the Sixers are all about assets. Injured Joel Embiid went third and now Dario Saric will be in Turkey for the next two seasons.

Knicks, Mavs upgrade rosters in Chandler-Calderon trade

The New York Knicks acquired a major upgrade at point guard at the expense of their starting center in a six-player trade with the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. The trade sends Jose Calderon to New York along with center Samuel Dalembert, wing Wayne Ellington, point guard Shane Larkin and the 34th and 51st picks in Thursday’s NBA Draft in exchange for center Tyson Chandler and point guard Raymond Felton. Pistons hire Jeff Bower as general manager, look to escape mediocrity

The Detroit Pistons named Jeff Bower as Stan Van Gundy’s new general manager, the team announced Tuesday afternoon. Bower served as the Charlotte/New Orleans/OKC Hornets’ GM from 2001 to 2003 and 2005 to 2010 and comes to Detroit after a stint as head coach of Marist College.
