The NBA season is less than 24 hours away now. The New York Knicks are apparently not happy with their final roster. They traded Travis Outlaw to the Philadelphia 76ers for Arnett Moultrie on Monday, in which they immediately waived him. The Knicks felt the need to add one more player after they waived Moultrie. No, it’s not Travis Wear. It’s Taylor Swift. Okay, obviously not for real. But, honestly, she’s probably taller than Shane Larkin, one of their backup guards..
Bernucca: Looking For a Championship Outlier? Try the Mavericks
One of the common complaints about the NBA – and a somewhat legitimate one at that – is that there are only a half-dozen teams or so that can truly win the championship. Think about it: Who do you have winning it all this season? Chances are it’s one of the “Fab Five” – Cleveland, Chicago, San Antonio, Oklahoma City or the Los Angeles Clippers. And you’re not off base, either. One of those teams is my pick – our staff’s
PODCAST: Michael Scotto Previews the NBA Season With FOX Sports Radio
In my latest SheridanHoops previews for the upcoming season I have the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks as playoff teams. What about the rest of the league? Can Kobe Bryant carry the Lakers to the playoffs with Steve Nash now out for the season? Is this the year the Chicago Bulls fulfill their potential and reach the NBA Finals? Are the Cleveland Cavaliers the title favorites with LeBron James and Kevin Love joining forces with Kyrie Irving? With that in mind, I joined FOX
Photo of the Day: NBA Opens Brand New Replay Center
In an attempt to quicken the pace of games and time spent on replay reviews, the NBA has opened a brand new replay center focused on just that. The replay center will help referees to make the right calls on reviewable plays, in a much more timely fashion. With the ability to view multiple different camera angles on one screen at a time, the refs will have what they need to expedite these often lengthy periods of review. The facility is
Five Things To Watch: Golden State Warriors
For Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, it was another summer of dreams and possibilities after a relatively disappointing 2013-2014 season that ended in dramatic fashion in the first round of the playoffs against the Los Angeles Clippers. During the offseason last year, there was some talk about the possibility of Dwight Howard having interest in joining the Warriors. It was unlikely (and never materialized), but the interest alone elevated the team’s status to a destination that was slowly but surely becoming
Victor Oladipo Has Facial Fracture, Out Indefinitely
Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo is out indefinitely after suffering a facial fracture in practice Thursday. The Magic announced Friday that Oladipo took an inadvertent elbow to the face during a practice drill. The second-year guard will undergo a surgical procedure Saturday. There is no timetable for his return. Oladipo already was nursing a sprained MCL suffered in preseason that had prevented him from playing in any exhibition games. He returned to practice Monday, and the Magic were hoping that Oladipo could
Photo of the Day: How Kevin Love Spent His Summer
The Cleveland Cavaliers made some noise over the summer. Not only did LeBron James make his return home, but he brought plenty of proven veterans with him. Possibly the one with the most to prove of these new components to the Cavaliers is Kevin Love. The proposed trade to send Kevin Love to Cleveland in exchange for the top overall pick in this year’s draft, Andrew Wiggins, could not be completed when the news broke about the parts and places
Five Things To Watch: San Antonio Spurs
All the San Antonio Spurs could talk about last season was avenging their 2013 NBA Finals loss to the Miami Heat, especially the heartbreaking loss in Game 6. The Spurs made sure it didn’t get to a Game 6 in 2014 as they dominated the Heat in five games to win their fifth championship. Tim Duncan, who many assumed would retire after his fifth title, now enters the 2014-15 season looking for a ring for his other hand now. The Spurs brought
