Facing a 12-point deficit and a potential 3-1 series hole, the Los Angeles Clippers played quite possibly the most important 12 minutes of basketball in franchise history Sunday afternoon. If not the most important, certainly the best. Behind the brilliant play of Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and the unlikely hero, Darren Collison, the Clippers rallied to beat the Thunder 101-99, sending the series back to Oklahoma City tied 2-2. As SheridanHoops own Chris Bernucca reported earlier, the Golden State Warriors have fired head coach Mark Jackson. Jackson’s dismissal has raised questions around the league. He helped lift the Warriors out of the NBA’s dark abyss, turning them from a 20-win team to a perennial 50-win team and playoff threat. After taking the San Antonio Spurs to six games in last years Western Conference semi’s, Jackson, with a talented yet precariously assembled roster, led the Warriors to another 50-win season and lost
Somehow, someway, these 2014 NBA playoffs just keep getting better. Nearly every game has come down to the wire, many going to overtime, and if they aren’t, than Kevin Durant must enforcing his will with an MVP performance. We were treated to three Game 6’s on Thursday night. Thanks to the basketball God’s we will be spoiled by three Game 7’s on Saturday. It can’t get better, can it? In the midst of one of the best opening rounds in NBA playoff history, this weekend was marred by the alleged cruel words of shamed Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling. There isn’t much use in rehashing Sterling’s comments, but if you have not read the coverage and are trying to play catch up you can find them here. If you have been following the Indiana Pacers the last few weeks, the first thing you would say they need is practice. Paul George’s tweet on Sunday night may indicate to some that he has other priorities. Despite dropping the first game to the Atlanta Hawks 101-93, the bottom seed in the NBA playoffs, in unspectacular fashion, George decided the best course of action would be to go fishing on Sunday.
