When the NBA schedule was released prior to the start of the season, everyone in Boston had Sunday, January 26th circled on their calendars. There aren’t many games to mark down when your team is gearing up to be one of the worst in the league, but this night would mark the return of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to Boston for the first time. SH Blog: Lowry Makes All-Star Case with Triple-Double; Nash BackTuesday?; Big Weekend With No Football
As we head into the NBA season’s first football-less weekend, it’s a great chance for the league to showcase itself on the national stage. With 29 games over the next three days, it looks like the NBA plans to do just that. Not to mention Sunday begins the season’s weekly slate of ABC double-headers — usually the two best games of the weekend. Also, be prepared, David Stern steps down next Friday! Let’s take a look at the most critical story
SH Blog: Problems Continue in New York; Wizards Interested in Greg Monroe; Parker, Embiid Could Stay in School
After a brutal 23 point loss to the Brooklyn Nets on a Martin Luther King Day matinee, the New York Knicks — and especially Carmelo Anthony — must come to this realization: to find the right answers they have to understand the right problems. If they don’t figure out how to accept the reality of their problems — and there are many — then they will never be able to overcome them. [Read more…]
Tweet of the Night: Richard Sherman Sets Civilization Back 500 Years
Although there was a five-game slate of NBA action on Sunday, the NBA knew it would be taking a backseat to the NFL. Kevin Durant didn’t score 54 points, but he did net 30 in a 108-93 win over the Sacramento Kings. On a normal Sunday, Durant would likely be recognized for scoring at least 30 points in his seventh straight game. [Read more…]

While not facing the stiffest competition, the move certainly seemed to rally the Cavs on the court this week and give them new life for the second half of the season. [Read more…]
SH Blog: Bulls Keep Shopping Players After Deng Trade; NBA Warns J.R. Smith; Steve Nash Plans to Return
