Who needs the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus to come to town when you have the Knicks at Madison Square Garden? Just when you think it can’t get worse for the Knicks, it does. Carmelo Anthony appears more tired than ever of being the ringleader. Before facing the Miami Heat on Thursday night, Anthony told the media which factors he will consider when making his free agency decision – and it’s not good news for the Knicks. “A lot of things
Tweet of the Day: Jimmer Fredette, Sacramento Kings Agree To Buyout
Two days after celebrating his 25th birthday, point guard Jimmer Fredette will soon be celebrating a new opportunity in his young NBA career. Thursday afternoon, he and the Sacramento Kings agreed to a buyout that will enable him to sign with any team for the remainder of the season—so long as he clears waivers and signs with said team by the March 1 deadline (for playoff eligibility). [Schlomo Sprung: Free Agency Update] Fredette, the 10th pick of the 2011 NBA draft, was in

It wasn’t the fairytale anyone was hoping for in New York. From bad loss to bad loss, player injuries and constant trade rumors, the most dysfunctional organization in the NBA sunk a little lower Saturday. By the time the evening games are underway tonight, the NBA trade deadline will have passed and we will know which teams have bailed on the season and which have strengthened their roster. Charlotte announced their desire to compete in the playoffs by beating Detroit for the second night in a row with ease. Kevin Durant/OKC was superb and Joakim Noah/CHI was solid as the Thunder and Bulls won. John Wall/WAS did not bring his A-game, but the Wizards used a balanced attack and a good defense to beat the Kings.

It took seven words from Carmelo Anthony to bring hysteria to New York before the season started. “I want to be a free agent,” Anthony told The New York Observer. Since then, the $129 million question hovering over the Knicks – like the Chase Bridge at Madison Square Garden – is whether the franchise can re-sign Anthony to a maximum contract this offseason. On the surface, it appears less likely Anthony will remain in a New York state of mind by summertime
Scotto: Kobe Bryant and Lakers Diagram Newest Championship Blueprint
Kobe Bryant deserved every penny, if not more, of his two-year, $48.5 million contract extension. And I’ll say this: Bryant doesn’t deserve to be criticized as selfish for the amount of money he will make, and any subsequent cap space the Lakers lose as a result. Extension Deadline Here For 2010 NBA Draft Class

That’s Pondexter, a member of the 2010 draft class, signing his contract extension, reportedly worth $14 million over four years. Pondexter became the sixth member of the 2010 draft to get an extension, and might be the last. Teams have until midnight ET to lock up players drafted three years ago with long-term contracts, and no one else seems close to a deal. Pondexter
