One’s loss is another’s opportunity when it comes to the NBA, and that will be the case for Kendall Marshall, the Los Angeles Lakers’ soon-to-be newest acquisition at point guard. With the unexpected injury to Kobe Bryant, the team now stands without a point guard. Steve Nash has been out for much of the season and will miss at least another month, Steve Blake is out with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, and Jordan Farmar won’t be back
Tweet of the Night: Frank Isola takes shot at Andrea Bargnani and Marc Berman of the New York Post
If you follow Frank Isola of the New York Daily News on twitter, you know that one of his favorite things to do is take a shot at Marc Berman of the New York Post. Chris Sheridan once told me that the two are actually fairly friendly acquaintances in person (although they run hot and cold-CS), so maybe it’s all some sort of an inside joke. Sometimes, though, that’s hard to believe when you see some of the things Isola says
Tweet of the Night: Marc Gasol provides somewhat of an update on the status of his injured knee
It was considered somewhat of a slow start to the season when the Memphis Grizzlies barely managed to stay above .500 with a record of 7-5 through their first 12 games. Then they lost Marc Gasol to a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee against the San Antonio Spurs on Nov. 22. How bad have the Grizzlies been since losing the reigning Defensive Player of the Year? Including that Spurs game where Gasol managed to play less than 10
Tweet of the Night: Reggie Miller can’t believe Knicks fail to call timeout against Wizards in final seconds
The New York Knicks have lost plenty of games this season in a variety of devastating ways, but Monday’s loss to the Washington Wizards at home may take the cake for the worst loss of the season. New York got off to a slow start and was down 53-42 at half time. John Wall went off in the first half with 19 points, but a determined Knicks team came out firing on all cylinders in the second half. They held Wall
Tweet of the Day: Greg Anthony Promoting Powerful Video
Empathy – \ˈem-pə-thē\ – the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. It is empathy that enables us to be emotionally moved to tears at the story of family that suffers loss or joy after hearing of someone else’s triumphant success. Empathy tugs at the proverbial heartstrings and helps us to feel for others. Some people are more empathetic than others. Being one of them, might explain my disposition towards heartwarming or emotional stories for the Tweet of the Day. Monday had another
Tweet of the Night: Rockets May Have Asik Deal In Place
Last week news broke that the Houston Rockets were planning to trade center Omer Asik by December 19th. Tonight, ESPN’s Marc Stein provided an update, suggesting that the Rockets already have a deal in place, but may hold out until the 19th to see if anybody can top it. [Read more…]
Tweet of the Day: Andre Drummond’s Tribute to Sandy Hook
Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond continues to show everyone why he’s one of the classiest young players in the NBA. Drummond wrote the name of each victim of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting on his shoes for tonight’s game. He will also donate his game jersey to the school. The shooting occurred one year ago yesterday in the community of Newtown, Connecticut. One man entered the school and open fired on faculty and children. In total, 28 were killed, including the
Tweet of the Night: Festus Ezeli Impressed by Josh McRoberts Dunk on Pau Gasol
In Kobe Bryant’s fourth game back from an injured achilles, the Los Angeles Lakers played against the Charlotte Bobcats on the road in the Time Warner Arena and escaped with an 88-85 win—their first since his return. The win will, perhaps, allow Pau Gasol to continue their road trip with his pride intact. At least, that might be the impression you’d get from Golden State Warriors center Festus Ezeli’s reaction to a Josh McRoberts dunk Saturday night. [Read more…]
