There aren’t generally many surprises throughout an NBA season. We know who the best players are. The best teams, in due time, surface to the top. But occasionally, maybe once a year, a player comes from out of nowhere and puts together a breakout year. It’s impossible to predict at this point, but after the preseason opened this weekend, Xavier Henry of the Los Angeles Lakers has at least put his name on the ballot. [Read more…]
Tweet of the Day: Gasol Ready for the Lake Show
If the Los Angeles Lakers have any playoff hopes, it will have to be done as a unit and in good health. The future of the Lake Show is a big question mark at this point. Kobe Bryant is nursing an Achilles tendon injury and is currently in Germany receiving platelet-rich plasma treatment on his right knee and left ankle which isn’t related to his Achilles. Pau Gasol is on the last year of his contract and has said he’d like

Ask any NBA fan what their two favorite months are, chances are you’ll get June for the NBA Finals and October for the beginning of the season. Today marked the first day of NBA basketball in over three months as several teams were in action. Although the regular season doesn’t begin until Oct. 29, fans are getting an early fix of basketball with four preseason games on Saturday. The Oklahoma City Thunder were first to play, squaring off against Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul,
Tweet of the Night: Welcome to the Paul Family Feud
On June 16, 1858, newly elected senator Abraham Lincoln addressed 1,000 people at the Republican State Convention in Springfield, Illinois. His words were succinct and to the point, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” A simple moral truth found in the bible: “Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.” [Matthew 12:25] That is, unless you’re in the Paul family. All is right in the

Could the apocalypse be upon us? Or perhaps a deadly, fire breathing dragon? Probably not. However, those could be valid reasons as to why NBA on TNT commentator and analyst Steve Kerr might be freaking out on Twitter. The other reason, the real one, could potentially spell the end of NBA coaches’ Hack-A-Dwight strategies, and propel the Houston Rockets center, Dwight Howard, up into the top echelon of the NBA’s elite. What is the big deal? [Read more…]

Tweet of the Night: DeMar DeRozan wants to prove everyone wrong again
Before the start of the 2012-2013 season, Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan called a certain ESPN analyst turned Vice President of Basketball Operations for the Memphis Grizzlies a clown for predicting a record of 33-49 for the Raptors. When the season had concluded, Toronto had a record of 34-48. Turns out, John Hollinger knew what he was talking about after all, and perhaps DeRozan owes the man an apology for the completely unnecessary name-calling. That’s not going to happen, though, and despite his
