The film “Selma”, which opened nationally on January 9th, details the Civil Rights efforts of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the small city of Selma, Alabama, as he and his followers sought voting equality. The movie has achieved critical acclaim, even earning an Oscar nomination for Best Picture. Yet, for all the praise that the film has received, it is not without it’s critics — many of whom will cede that the film is good, but point out its failings. Count
Tweet of the Night: Mo Williams shares his list of All-Stars, puts Kobe Bryant over James Harden as starter and excludes Jimmy Butler
With February quickly approaching, the discussion for who belongs on an All-Star team this year is the hot topic in the minds of many. The time for fans to vote in the starters is officially over, and the coaches can then consider who they’ll want to select as the reserves of their respective conferences. I’ve already put plenty of thought into this (which you can check here), but we’ll have to see what the fans did first before going into detail on
Tweet of the Night: Michael Wilbon critical of the Chicago Bulls again
Things can change rather quickly in the NBA. A team can look completely hopeless in one month to dominant in the next (Detroit Pistons come to mind). Conversely, a team can look absolutely dominant in one month but can go through a rough stretch where questions begin to pile up. The Chicago Bulls have been a good example of the latter: after starting the season 25-10 and looking like one of the top teams in the league, they have dropped six of
Tweet of the Night: Andre Drummond thrilled about his first game-winner in the NBA
The Detroit Pistons have been on an absolute tear since trading Josh Smith, and Andre Drummond has played an instrumental part during their 10-2 run on both ends of the floor. The center was at it again on Friday against the Indiana Pacers, collecting 16 points and 16 rebounds and coming up with the game-winning tip on a missed layup attempt by Brandon Jennings with the game tied at 96 apiece. That was after he came up with a defensive stop
Tweet of the Night: Austin Rivers says goodbye to New Orleans, Bill Simmons makes sarcastic remark about Rivers to Clippers
The rumors had been floating for much of the past week about the Los Angeles Clippers’ interest in acquiring Doc Rivers’ son Austin Rivers to back up Chris Paul, and it officially happened on Thursday when they traded Reggie Bullock to the Phoenix Suns, Chris Douglas-Roberts and a 2017 second-round pick to the Boston Celtics in a three-team deal. Tweet of the Night: Michael Wilbon puts the Chicago Bulls on blast
The Chicago Bulls have been one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference for much of the season, and they are still the favorites to come out of the East in Vegas when all said and done. Does that sound right, though? They finished with a fourth-best 27-14 at home last season in the conference with a seemingly worse roster than the one they currently sport, but are already closing in on the 14 losses from last year (there is still
Tweet of the Night: Dan Le Batard calls the Cavaliers’ situation a “feces show”
LeBron James made his much-needed return on Tuesday against the Phoenix Suns on the road after sitting out the past eight games – a span of two weeks. Unfortunately, his return wasn’t quite enough for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who suffered a 107-100 defeat for their sixth straight loss. [Read more…]
Tweet of the Night: Quincy Pondexter reacts emotionally to being traded to New Orleans Pelicans
Being in the NBA has its perks (okay, that’s a major understatement), but there are also plenty of things that can be dreadful about it. One of them? Being traded from a team and city that you absolutely love. That was the case for forward Quincy Pondexter, who was officially traded to the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday after spending the last three seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies. Pondexter is best known for his defense, the ability to knock down an occasional
