Amid the showers of thanks and gratitude for our nation’s war veterans and those currently serving in the military, a single tweet crossed the wire remembering one of the founding members of the Sugarhill Gang. Henry “Big Bank Hank” Jackson, 57, passed away early Tuesday of complications from cancer. Big Bank Hank, along with Wonder Mike and Master Gee, all of whom hailed from Englewood, New Jersey, were assembled by producer producer Sylvia Robinson. Their 1979 hit, “Rapper’s Delight,” was the
Tweet of the Night: Paul Millsap refers to win against New York Knicks as “road kill”
Paul Millsap was quite occupied on Monday in Madison Square Garden as he did all he could do to contain Carmelo Anthony. Anthony somewhat had his way with 25 points (albeit on 25 shots), along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Millsap recorded 19 points, four rebounds (including a critical offensive rebound late in the fourth quarter that helped seal the game) and three steals. It was good enough to help the Atlanta Hawks come up with a hard-fought 91-85 victory
Tweet of the Day: Deron Williams Grateful For Honor As Week 2 POTW
Week 2 of the 2014-15 NBA season came to a close this past weekend, and with it come two new names as the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week. Tweet of the Day: Sixers Make Most of Bad Loss With Drake Joke
The Philadelphia 76ers are terrible, but at least the team’s social media staff got a win tonight. In the midst of a 32-point blowout to the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night, the Sixers Twitter account had a little fun with the fans. Hold on we’re going home. pic.twitter.com/7GwFIl6qBY — Philadelphia 76ers (@Sixers) November 10, 2014 Let me explain. The Sixers played in Toronto, hence Drake was in the house. Drake has a hit song called Hold On We’re Going Home. Need I say more.
Tweet of the Night: Steve Nash explains himself about golf swing
One big golf swing from Steve Nash has been the talk of the town in Los Angeles for the past week or so, and all the anger surrounding the issue forced the injured point guard to explain himself in a big way on his facebook account as an open letter to the fans. [Read more…]
SH Blog: LeBron James and Kyrie Irving exchange words, Bogut says Warriors didn’t practice a lot last year
We knew there would be some bumps and bruises along the way, but going 1-3 in their first four games is not what anyone envisioned when the Cleveland Cavaliers acquired LeBron James and Kevin Love in the offseason. Unfortunately for them, that’s exactly where they are after losing to the Utah Jazz 102-100 on Wednesday thanks to a game-winning buzzer-beater from Gordon Hayward. The offense for the Cavaliers is very much in the infant stages, and David Blatt has yet to
Tweet of the Night: Rachel Nichols and Daryl Morey agree on the best team in Southwest Division
After unexpectedly losing Chandler Parsons to free agency, the Houston Rockets were supposed to take a step back from a season ago. They also lost Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik for nothing in their attempt to free up cap space to sign Chris Bosh, which ultimately failed when the power forward re-signed with the Miami Heat. The Rockets did manage to sign Trevor Ariza to replace Parsons, though, and that move has helped them stay undefeated through the first six games, making
Tweet of the Day: ESPN’s Bill Simmons Takes On Mike & Mike From His Own Network
Less than a month back from a three-week suspension, Grantland founder and editor-in-chief Bill Simmons seems poised to ruffle more feathers with network executives at ESPN. This time, however, the target of his revile was not NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, though his stance on Goodell hasn’t changed. No, this time, the target is ESPN’s most-beloved radio show hosts, Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic, who had sharp criticism for Simmons’ comments on LeBron James’ early season struggles on their morning radio show,
