Tuesday’s contest between Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors was supposed to be something of a showdown – a dog fight – between two teams trying to establish their position to ensure that they make the playoffs in the insanely-competitive Western conference. Instead, the Mavericks looked lifeless for much of the night and suffered an embarrassing 108-85 loss to the Warriors, who have now won five consecutive games to gain a firm three-game lead over Dallas and the Memphis Grizzlies in
Tweet of the Night: Brent Barry impressed by the Suns despite their loss to the Clippers
Monday’s contest between Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns looked to be over early when Blake Griffin was having one of those games where he simply could not be stopped by anyone. Griffin scored 22 points in the first quarter alone on an array of shots and moves around the basket and even payed a little homage to Karl Malone on this breakaway dunk. He shot a ridiculous 14-of-16 from the field for 37 points, and the Clippers got out to

Tweet of the Day: Pau Gasol Praises Jodie Meeks
It was a day of surprises in the NBA. The Chicago Bulls beat a healthy Miami Heat team, the Oklahoma City Thunder fell to the Los Angeles Lakers but most surprising of all: Jodie Meeks scored 42. Yes, you read that correctly. The Lakers guard made 11-of-18 field goals and was red-hot from the free-throw line, hitting all 14 of his attempts. Somewhere near the bottom of all the game reports will be mention of Kevin Durant, he had a pretty good game,
Tweet of the Day: Damian Lillard Takes Note of Andrew Wiggins 41-Point Game
Not every day a college freshman scores 41 points, actually, it’s only been done twice in the past 18 years. If any kid is going to amaze, it’s Andrew Wiggins. On Saturday Wiggins lit up the West Virginia Mountaineers with 41 points in a losing effort that saw his Kansas Jayhawks falling 92-86. The 41 points are impressive, but how he did it is even better. On only 17 shots he somehow managed to score nearly half of his team’s points. Portland Trail Blazers

When the New York Knicks visited the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier in the week and Tyson Chandler had Kevin Love on him, the center was more aggressive than usual (he ended up with 15 points in the win). After seeing some success in the first half, here is what he had to say when asked how he could take advantage of the mismatch against Love: [Read more…]

An article on NBA.com crossed paths with former Phoenix Suns point guard and current Sacramento city mayor Kevin Johnson Friday afternoon. What was it about? Retired Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson recalled the tale of his first game against Mayor Johnson back on February 26, 1997. KJ made him cry. [Read more…]
Tweet of the Night: Rick Fox says the best part of watching Lakers-Clippers is free gum
The Los Angeles Lakers are 21-41 this season, so the logical thing to do was to believe that things couldn’t get much worse for this bunch. Then Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers happened, where they were historically bad. After a competitive first quarter between the two teams, the Clippers completely broke the game open in the second quarter, leading 73-40 at half time. The final score? 142-94. It was the Clippers’ biggest margin of victory ever, and the most lopsided loss in
