Finally. After much anticipation, and to some chagrin, the NBA’s coaches have submitted their list of reserves for the forthcoming 2014 NBA All-Star game in New Orleans, LA. Many of the All-Star reserve selections are expected, though there were a few selections (and snubs) that were unconventional, though deserving. In the Eastern Conference, Chris Bosh [Miami Heat], DeMar DeRozan [Toronto Raptors], Paul Millsap [Atlanta Hawks], John Wall [Washington Wizards], Joe Johnson [Brooklyn Nets], Roy Hibbert [Indiana Pacers] and Joakim Noah [Chicago Bulls] all join
Tweet of the Night: Isiah Thomas says there has never been anyone like Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant or LeBron James? That has been the question many have been asking since Durant’s incredible scoring run in the month of January. Prior to Oklahoma City Thunder’s matchup against Miami Heat on Wednesday, the forward had scored at least 30 points or more in 11 consecutive games, going 8-3 in that span – all without All-Star guard Russell Westbrook. For Durant, this stuff matters. He openly admit last season that being second to LeBron James in everything was not something
Tweet of the Day: Atlanta Hawks Fall Victim to Snowpocalypse 2014
Atlanta motorists deadlocked on I-285 during Snowpocalypse 2014. The city of Atlanta has fallen prey to Snowpocalypse 2014—also known as Snowmageddon. Tuesday afternoon, the clouds opened up and—combined with temperatures in the teens—spewed forth a few inches worth of snow. Not much, but enough to cause chaos among Atlanta natives. Though the city has snow plows and salt trucks, none were put to use prior to the snow storm, yielding slick, icy roads incapable of supporting normal traffic,
Tweet of the Night: Steve Kerr says no one will want to face the Grizzlies in playoffs
When Marc Gasol went down with a scary knee injury in late November, the Memphis Grizzlies were a modest 7-6 to begin the season. Without their reigning Defensive Player of the Year, the Grizzlies were a subpar 10-13 and many around the league began to wonder if they would even make it back to the playoffs in the ultra-competitive Western Conference. Tweet of the Night: Tracy McGrady rips Milwaukee Bucks for being such a bad team
Prior to the start of this season, there were some who believed the Milwaukee Bucks had enough talent on the roster to be a playoff team in the Eastern Conference. 44 games later, they sit with an 8-36 record – the worst in the NBA – and is the only team that has yet to reach double-digit victories. Most of their offseason moves have failed to make a difference, and there appears to be much general discontent in the locker room
Tweet of the Day: Kevin Durant, Paul Millsap Named NBA Players of the Week
Monday the NBA announced the Players of the Week for the past seven days. This wouldn’t normally be tweet-worthy news, but this week saw a veteran player get the honor for the first time in over seven seasons. [Read more…]
Tweet of the Night: Reaction to Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett’s Return to Boston
When the NBA schedule was released prior to the start of the season, everyone in Boston had Sunday, January 26th circled on their calendars. There aren’t many games to mark down when your team is gearing up to be one of the worst in the league, but this night would mark the return of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to Boston for the first time. [Read more…]
Tweet of the Night: Portland defeats Minnesota; marks 33rd win of the season
In a highly contested matchup between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Trail Blazers prevailed to win their 33rd game of the season. Though 33 wins in an 82 game season isn’t exactly a major feat, it does tell of how far this team has come in one season. There are still 38 games left in the season, and Portland has managed to tie their total amount of wins from last year in half that time. [Read more…]
