NBA on ESPN analyst and Grantland editor in chief Bill Simmons maintains many titles: writer, fan, Los Angeles Clippers season ticket holder, husband, dad, among a few others. Among the many hats that he wears, he is an avid Boston Celtics fan. If you’ve followed his blogs or read his book, you know that he has been a big Celtics fan since he was a child—when his father would take him to the old Boston Garden. While still maintaining his Boston NBA
Tweet of the Night: Lance Stephenson campaigns for All-Star votes in youtube clip
Lance Stephenson of the Indiana Pacers wants to be an All-Star this season. How far is he willing to go to get your vote? This far: https://t.co/zkvZHW1wYr — Lance Stephenson (@StephensonLance) January 15, 2014 Stephenson plays with a sense of urgency and intensity every time he steps on the court, but he also seems to take time to have a little fun, too, evidenced by his All-Star campaign video and his tendency to showboat after plays like this. Stephenson is enjoying a career year
Tweet of the Night: Rajon Rondo hints at a Friday return with cryptic tweet
29,233,380 secs — Rajon Rondo (@RajonRondo) January 14, 2014 Normally, Rajon Rondo’s tweet containing millions of seconds could be considered relatively cryptic. In this day and age, however, google makes it pretty easy to figure out stuff like this in a matter of seconds. Convert those seconds that Rondo tweeted into days, and you get 338.349 days. That still doesn’t necessarily explain why such a time frame was posted by the much-missed point guard, but that’s where twitter gets mighty useful. Folks in
Tweet of the Day: NBA Athletes Talk About FIFA’s Top Footballer
Monday brought with it the FIFA Ballon d’Or 2013 Award Ceremony, where the world’s greatest football (soccer) player is honored. No different than the rest of the world, many NBA players are avid soccer fans. Prior to the award being announced a couple took to Twitter to express their anticipation for the award’s announcement. Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol seemed exuberant about the closeness of the competition for FIFA’s top honor. Very tight race this year but we will know pretty
Tweet of the Night: Kings Win Third Straight, Rout Cavs In Sacramento
Both the Cleveland Cavaliers and Sacramento Kings came into Sunday’s contest at Sleep Train Arena looking to build off of back-to-back wins. The Cavaliers were coming off of two blowout victories over the Philadelphia 76ers and Utah Jazz, both coming after the big trade for Luol Deng. While not facing the stiffest competition, the move certainly seemed to rally the Cavs on the court this week and give them new life for the second half of the season. [Read more…]
Tweet of the Day: LeBron Does a Q&A
After a double overtime loss to the Brooklyn Nets, LeBron James took to Twitter and did a questions and answers session. Becoming a regular of the Twitter Q&As, James was having trouble sleeping after his 5 a.m. arrival in Miami. That restlessness can likely be attributed to watching the last overtime on the bench in Brooklyn. James fouled out of a regular season game for the first time since 2008. Miami fell 104-95 to the Nets and were outscored 11-2
Tweet of the Night: Nick Young questions if Clippers will be any good in the postseason
The Los Angeles Lakers surprised everyone when the season started by beating the Los Angeles Clippers 116-103 on opening night. Bill Simmons couldn’t believe what he saw, and many pundits questioned if the Clippers were really going to be contenders this season. On Friday, the two teams met up for the second time this season and the results weren’t quite the same: the Clippers routed the Lakers 123-87 – the largest margin of victory ever against the Lakers in franchise history. It
Tweet of the Day: LeBron James Now Available in Thigh Form
That’s right. You can now have Miami Heat All-Star forward LeBron James on your thigh. Not literally—like a child sitting on Santa’s thigh. Figuratively, however … most definitely. Just ask Shane Battier who witnessed the phenomenon first hand. He sent evidence to James who has, for our benefit, shared it on social media. [Read more…]
