Westbrook signs max extension: 5 years, $79 million

Russell Westbrook is a max man. The Oklahoma City Thunder guard agreed to a five-year contract extension today, and a source tells SheridanHoops.com that Westbrook received the largest deal available to him: A 5-year, max contract that will be worth approximately $79 million. Under the new collective bargaining agreement, each team is allowed to designate one player to receive a five-year deal (players who signed under the old CBA, such as Kevin Durant, do not count). Thunder stunned by Wizards in nation’s capital

Wait a minute, wasn’t Friday the 13th last week? Bad fortune befell many of the NBA’s best teams last night, with the Thunder, Magic, Sixers and Pacers all losing. None of the  losses was as shocking as Oklahoma City’s, coming in the nation’s capital against a Wizards team that had won only once all season.
