Big names are in the news. Carmelo Anthony (knee surgery) is out for the season. Goran Dragic is suddenly on the trading block. Kevin Martin also wants a trade or a buyout. [Read more…]
Here’s Your NBA Trade Deadline Buyout Cheat Sheet
The NBA trading deadline is slightly more than 24 hours away. And while the feeling is that there will be some deals, many teams made their biggest moves some time ago. The deadline has become about far more than acquiring players. It is just as much about stockpiling assets such as draft picks and expiring contracts or unloading players with long-term deals. With that in mind, we have compiled a list of veteran players who have either partial or no guarantees on
Tweet of the Night: Bill Simmons doesn’t think Goran Dragic will end up in L.A, N.Y., Miami or Boston
Some major news broke on Tuesday when it was reported that Goran Dragic wants to be traded from the Phoenix Suns, and the team has agreed to meet his wish. Now the question is, where exactly is the coveted point guard going to end up? According to Sam Amick of USA Today, there are seven teams on Dragic’s wishlist. No one knows exactly which teams are on that list, but multiple reports are suggesting the Los Angeles Lakers are on it.
Photo of the Day: Danilo Gallinari Hangs with Pitbull
For anyone who doesn’t know who Pitbull is, you’re not alone. He is a Latin hip hop/pop singer (I guess?) who is literally on the radio all the time. Denver Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari is apparently a fan of his, for some strange reason. He attended his concert on Tuesday night, which is where today’s Photo of the Day comes from. [Read more…]
SH Blog: Suns, Dragic drive PG market as deadline looms; Jazz set Kanter price
The NBA’s trade deadline is now under 48 hours away at 3 p.m. Eastern time Thursday, and it’s the Phoenix Suns who seem to be driving the market. He’ll be a free agent in July and is said to be eyeing an “open” free agency. And with a star like Dragic
Sheridan: Trade Deadline Lookahead — Kanter to Thunder?

Well, with the number of trades that have already taken place this season, it stands to reason that things will be more quiet this year than they have in years past. With that being said, here are a couple things I expect to happen: [Read more…]
Gonzo: Farewell To Jerry Tarkanian, The Ultimate Rebel
As a young college coach, I had the great fortune to meet and become extremely close to one of the most powerful figures in basketball, sneaker kingpin Sonny Vaccaro. Like many coaches, Sonny gave me my first adidas sneaker contract. But it was a story Sonny once shared with me as a young high school coach working his Nike All-American camp that has stayed with me for over 25 years. The story still resonates with me today as I reflect on
China Update: Von Wafer lost his cool, tossed a chair, in playoff game
Two weeks ago, Von Wafer was riding pretty high. His Shanxi Dragons team had just made it into their first postseason for three years and his name was about to be included in the shortlist for the CBA’s foreign player MVP. Now however, things are very different. On Saturday when America was tuning into the NBA All-Star Dunk Contest, Wafer was releasing a public apology in China following his behavior in the final minutes of a playoff game. Writing that he was
