The big news of the day is the Knicks acquiring Raymond Felton from Portland, which could very well spell the end of Linsanity in New York. Chris Sheridan covered all the news surrounding the Felton acquisition and what it means for Lin on SheridanHoops earlier, and Moke Hamilton went in-depth with the financial and luxury-tax implications as well. After you’re done checking out all the Linsanity: July Edition, here’s the latest news from everywhere else in the NBA: Things are getting downright baffling
Hamilton: For Knicks, Linsanity May Be Too Expensive
Though Jeremy Lin may be Houston-bound, in New York City, the Linsanity continues. Earlier this month, news broke that Daryl Morey, the general manager of the Houston Rockets had reached agreement with Jeremy Lin on a four-year offer sheet that would pay Lin approximately $30 million. That offer called for Lin to earn approximately $5 million in each of the first two years and approximately $10 million in each of the final two. All along, the Knicks were expected to match any offer
Knicks trading for Felton, possibly ending Linsanity
Linsanity is over in New York. Or is it? We’ll know for certain within the next 72 hours. With Lin signing a backloaded $25 million, three-year offer sheet with the Houston Rockets, the Knicks have gone out and found themselves a replacement — or a sidekick — for Lin, depending on who you want to believe. That player is Raymond Felton, who will return to New York along with center Kurt Thomas in a sign-and-trade deal with the Portland Trail Blazers for Jared
