The 2014 NBA draft lottery came and went Tuesday night, and now that teams are on the clock, there is more clarity as to the draft order. In what seems like a scene from Groundhog Day, the Cleveland Cavaliers emerged as the winner for the second straight year. And they even won without human good luck charm Nick Gilbert on hand as the Cavs were represented by new GM David Griffin. In the last four years, the Cavs have won the top overall
Tweet of the Day: Surprise, Surprise; Cleveland Wins … AGAIN!
Tuesday night the NBA held its Draft Lottery to determine the top three picks in the forthcoming draft. Somehow, someway — conspiracy theorists have at it — the Cleveland Cavaliers won the top overall pick with only a 1.7-percent chance at it. This makes the second consecutive year that Dan Gilbert’s team has won the lottery, third time in the past four years. The results are in! The #Cavs hold the No. 1 pick in the upcoming @NBA Draft on June 26th.
Bauman: Positionless Players Par for the Course in Today’s NBA
CHICAGO – If there was anything to be learned at the 2014 NBA Draft combine, it is that when discussing prospects, positions are somewhat blown out of proportion. Despite their size, a prospect must must become very well-rounded in order to reach true star status at the next level. “It’s not new to see guys playing multiple positions,” Tom Penn, an ESPN analyst, told the Wall Street Journal in 2012. “But we’ve never seen this many elite players play multiple positions at an elite
Diamonds in the Rough: Five prospects who improved their stock at 2014 NBA Draft Combine
CHICAGO — No, Andrew Wiggins. No Jabari Parker. No Joel Embiid. Since most of the projected upper-echelon 2014 NBA Draft Lottery picks chose not to participate in drills at the combine, the door was open for other players to come in and catch the attention of GMs and scouts in attendance, who were, of course, out in abundance doing their due diligence and networking with just over a month until draft day. NBA Draft: Who is the Next Damian Lillard?
The best prospects stayed away from the NBA Draft combine in Chicago. The next tier of prospects are jockeying for leverage and position while their agents push them to anyone willing to listen, and there are some seniors who go against the grain of one-and-done prospects who deserve a closer look. This has been a strange year in the sense that so many big names pulled out of Chicago’s NBA Draft Combine earlier this week, including Andrew Wiggins, Joel Embiid and

Ties Broken for 2014 Draft Order; Jazz Gain One Ping-Pong Ball
NEW YORK – Four ties among teams that finished the 2013-14 NBA regular season with identical records were broken Friday through random drawings to help determine the order of selection for the 2014 NBA Draft, which will be held on Thursday, June 26. The drawings were conducted by Jason Cahilly, NBA Chief Strategic and Financial Officer, and Dan Rube, NBA Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. Bernucca: You Can Have the NCAA Tournament
I don’t like the NCAA Tournament. I don’t like that college basketball’s regular season provides little postseason incentive. I don’t like that the coach is a bigger personality than the players. I don’t like that the games are played on neutral courts. I don’t like that one bad game or bad call or bad break can end a team’s season. I don’t like that “close” becomes a synonym for “well-played.” And I don’t like that poor play determines the outcome much
