After playing a vital role in the Olympics for Team USA, gold medalist Kevin Love had high expectations for the Timberwolves and their revamped roster for the upcoming season. Unfortunately for him and the team, those expectations took a major hit on Wednesday afternoon when Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports tweeted and broke the news that Love has suffered a broken hand. Chris Bernucca has the details of the situation. This really is a tough break for a franchise finally hoping
Kevin Love out 6-8 weeks with broken hand
Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star forward Kevin Love will miss six to eight weeks with a broken hand, the team announced Wednesday. According to a release from the team, Love fractured the third and fourth metacarpal in his right hand while working out. The plan is for the Team USA member to travel to New York on Thursday to be examined by hand specialist Dr. Andy Weiland at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Love’s injury could be devastating to Minnesota’s postseason hopes. A season ago, they were in
SH Blog: Phil Jackson says MJ could play three positions while LeBron can play four, McGrady signs with team in China
What is it about this desire to compare LeBron James to that of Michael Jordan? Clearly, James has a ways to go before you can put him in the “greatest of all time” category. This is not to say that he won’t get there – he is certainly on pace to put up historic numbers when all is said and done – but pitting him against Jordan right now just doesn’t seem very fair, given how much more Jordan has

If you’re someone like me who takes great joy in finding under-the-radar players and watching them rise up the ranks, then you should definitely check out Tommy Dee’s list of eight NBA training camp invitees who could make Opening Night rosters. Most camps open Tuesday, and Monday is media day. We’ll have you covered from different hotspots around the country. It’s time to start counting the weeks, not the months, until NBA season starts, and we’ve got a whole bunch of ways to help you get ready. Start with Chris Bernucca’s column to find out which NBA stars might not be playing on Opening Night, and also be sure to check out Kent Williams’ awesome NBA depth chart, whether as a cheat sheet for a fantasy draft or just because it’s really cool. And now let’s get to all the latest
Fantasy Spin: September 11, 2012
Yesterday we talked about context — especially keeper leagues vs. redraft leagues — being a significant part of any player’s fantasy value. We didn’t even mention custom scoring. There are leagues where missed free throws don’t matter, making Dwight Howard a must-own instead of a category-killer. Turnovers are also not counted everywhere; I’m in more than one league where A/T (assist/turnover ratio) is used instead. Adjust the order of any or all of these names to better reflect your league’s settings. Tomorrow
All-Olympics Team: Manu and LeBron Lead The Way
Team USA beat Spain for Olympic gold on Sunday with a roster of 12 men that embraced their respective roles. They shoved their egos aside for the good of the team and yada yada yada. Tired of the clichés yet? After watching Team USA’s big, happy family roll over opponents for two weeks, I am too. But hey, they deserved each one. Getting a group of superstars to agree to a 12-way split of the spotlight is tough, and Mike Krzyzewski managed
