BOSTON — What a week, what a week, in Beantown. From Rajon Rondo’s 17-point, 12-assist, 10-rebound performance in a win over the lowly Charlotte Bobcats on Monday, to the Doc-Austin Rivers father-son reunion on Wednesday, to the Marco Belinelli game-winning fall-away last night in overtime to give the Bulls a 100-99 victory, it was quite an entertaining week at TD Garden. Sheridan Hoops Rookie Rankings: Week Eight
In the 2012 draft, Thomas Robinson and Damian Lillard could not have been closer together. Robinson went fifth to the Sacramento Kings and Lillard went sixth to the Portland Trail Blazers. In their rookie seasons. however, Robinson and Lillard could not be farther apart. To be fair, Lillard has had a better opportunity to show his wares. Portland basically gave him the point guard position with carte blanche to learn on the job, dumping everyone from last season except Nolan Smith. Robinson wasn’t
Gibson: Gustavo Ayon and the European Buyout
One year ago, the Hornets bought power forward Gustavo Ayon out of his Fuenlabrada (ACB) contract and brought him to New Orleans several days before their unlocked season tipped off. Ayon started 24 games as a 26-year-old rookie and was shipped to Orlando in a sign-and-trade for Ryan Anderson this summer. Sheridan Hoops Rookie Rankings: Week Seven
Given his precocious play and the piles of praise he is receiving, Damian Lillard appears to have a stronghold on this season’s Rookie of the Year. And the calendar hasn’t even changed. Sheridan Hoops Rookie Rankings: Week Three
Damian Lillard made a rookie mistake Sunday night. Lillard didn’t lose track of the shot clock. He didn’t go under the pick-and-roll on a shooter. He didn’t forget to bring the Krispy Kremes to practice. He broke an unwritten NBA rule. [Read more…]
Hornets guard Eric Gordon out indefinitely
New Orleans Hornets guard Eric Gordon is out indefinitely with right knee issues that have plagued him since he joined the team. Asked about Gordon’s status for the team’s season opener Wednesday night vs. San Antonio, Hornets coach Monty Williams said, “He’s gonna be out, and the way I understand it, he’s gonna be out indefinitely until we get some clarity as to what’s going on.” Gordon did not play at all in the preseason due to the knee injury before participating
