After playing a vital role in the Olympics for Team USA, gold medalist Kevin Love had high expectations for the Timberwolves and their revamped roster for the upcoming season. Unfortunately for him and the team, those expectations took a major hit on Wednesday afternoon when Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports tweeted and broke the news that Love has suffered a broken hand. Chris Bernucca has the details of the situation. This really is a tough break for a franchise finally hoping
Kevin Love out 6-8 weeks with broken hand
Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star forward Kevin Love will miss six to eight weeks with a broken hand, the team announced Wednesday. According to a release from the team, Love fractured the third and fourth metacarpal in his right hand while working out. The plan is for the Team USA member to travel to New York on Thursday to be examined by hand specialist Dr. Andy Weiland at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Love’s injury could be devastating to Minnesota’s postseason hopes. A season ago, they were in
C.Brewer scores 24 off bench; K.Irving 2-for-15; Nate 1-for-11 w/4 TOs in 16 mins
Fantasy gurus can’t be fans. We can cheer for a team, but never take that loyalty into a draft room. One exception is permitted this year: if you’re a Denver Nuggets fan, draft as many of “your guys” as possible. Last night, Danilo Gallinari had 19 points in 35 minutes and Corey Brewer caught fire off the bench with 24 to spark a road win. JaVale McGee started at C; both Timofey Mozgov and Kosta Koufos came off the bench.
Wade logs 23 minutes in China; Novak 7-for-7 on 3s; Jrue gets 27 pts in 20 mins
A loyal reader from Singapore asked about Harrison Barnes yesterday. Almost simultaneously, Bruce Wrigley’s weekly column examined the battle between Barnes and Brandon Rush for minutes at SF. Then the rookie started last night and scored 20 points on 8-11 shooting. Is he suddenly a hot fantasy commodity? Not exactly. The Warriors were playing at home against Maccabi Haifa, which is hardly the best team in Israel, which is not the strongest foreign league. They do have a wealthy owner
SH Blog: LeBron James working on sky hook, Stan Van Gundy rips ESPN
How good can LeBron James become now that all the pressure in the world is off his back to win his first championship? How much better does he want to be? Can he really improve much more than what he has already shown in the first nine seasons of his illustrious career? Well, he is apparently working to master the sky hook shot made famous by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to add to his post game, which indicates that his game could
B.Roy scores 13 in return; Curry starts for Spurs; Lillard holds own vs. Nash
An NBA game in Fargo? You’re darn tootin’! The Timberwolves played like a home team, even in North Dakota. J.J. Barea started at PG; Luke Ridnour has been battling back spasms and of course, the return date of Ricky Rubio (knee) is indefinite. The Russian Connection of Andrei Kirilenko and rookie Alexey Shved contributed very little but the big news was Brandon Roy playing 23:40 and scoring 13 points in his first game in 18 months. That wasn’t really the
SH Blog: Dirk Nowitzki’s knee acting up, Deron Williams did not want King to wait on Howard
The Western Conference, as we’ve become accustomed to, is once again stacked with playoff-level teams. This means one or more of those teams will miss the playoffs due to the level of competition, even if they end up with a winning record. The Mavericks could end up being one of those teams if Dirk Nowitzki, who has a swollen knee that has yet to improve, misses an extended period of time this season. See how the sharp-shooting big man plans
