The Los Angeles Clippers re-signed free agent forward Bobby Simmons, whose second 10-day contract with the Clippers expired on March 18, the team announced Saturday. In 13 games played for the Clippers this season, Simmons has tallied 3.5 points and 2.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 37.1 percent from behind the three-point line. The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they signed forward Boris Diaw. Per club policy details of the contract were not released. The 6-8, 235-pound Diaw started the season with the Charlotte Bobcats before being placed on waivers on March 21. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — If Brook Lopez gets dealt for Dwight Howard before the March 15 trade deadline, he’ll report to Orlando in a walking boot. As expected, Rajon Rondo was on a mission against Jeremy Lin, with a triple double (18 PTS, 20 AST and an amazing 17 REB) and Paul Pierce was superb with 34, as the Celtics needed overtime to beat the Knicks. Trade talk: Mavs’ master plan takes a hit; Devin Harris on the block

Tuesday was not a good day for the Dallas Mavericks, or their master plan. The defending champions opened the second half of the season with a 93-92 home loss to the New Jersey Nets. Dallas played without forward Lamar Odom, still away from the team as he tends to a personal issue. Despite their championship pedigree, the Mavs played with little urgency, trailing for most of the night and turning on the switch only when the game needed to be reeled in.
