Where to begin? Mike Brown’s exit? Phil Jackson’s overnight disappearance? The unending string of power forward injuries? A reformed J.R. Smith on the undefeated New York Knicks? Fashion. The faux pas; the dos and don’ts. It all makes for great conversation. NBA athletes are generally big proponents of fashion, often wearing their endorsed apparel or sporting their nicest threads as they enter the arena on game day. One of the most recent trends over the past year or so would be the advent of “skinny” jeans for men. Rapper Lil’ Wayne may be one of the most recognizable celebrity men to sport the skinny jean look. Now, it seems—as Denver Nuggets guard
SH Blog: OJ Mayo ready for big season in Dallas
O.J. Mayo is growing up. and if the first four games of the 2012 NBA season are any indication, you can expect his game to evolve to new heights with his maturity. “Obviously I built a big-time ego and a comfort level like you made it and you arrived,” Mayo told Mac Engel of the Fort-Worth Star-Telegram. “There is so much more to prove, ways to get better. There is a long way to get better. You don’t get into the
SH Blog: Waxing poetic on new Brooklyn Arena, which is dark tonight
Congratulations to the New Jersey Brooklyn Nets for resisting the urge to relocate tonight’s opener to the Meadowlands, or to the Prudential Center in Newark, or to the Teaneck Armory (if it still exists) — all places they used to call home. Their super-hyped opener against the New York Knicks has been postponed until Nov. 26 because of the effects of Hurricane Sandy, which caused more devastation than New Yorkers and NewJerseyans are accustomed to handling. The league made the announcement Wednesday afternoon. There were reports Tuesday that the game at the new Barclays Center in downtown Brooklyn might still be played, but that is no longer the case. “Mayor (Michael) Bloomberg informed us this afternoon that after further analysis of the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy that he felt

Today the super storm known as Sandy hit the east coast and NBA players were not exempt from its wrath. Brooklyn Nets backup forward-center Andray Blatche sent out an update on the weather conditions from his neighborhood earlier Monday afternoon.
Bernucca: Forget the championship, Thunder want a “sustainable team”
When the Oklahoma City Thunder traded James Harden on Saturday night, they revealed to everyone that they are a team far more concerned with the bottom line than the top of the heap. Probably a bit ahead of schedule, the Thunder reached the NBA Finals last season. As we have said before, they were a questionable foul call away from opening a 2-0 lead on the mighty Miami Heat that would have cultivated the doubt and derision that has swirled around
Bernucca: Do injuries to Love, Nowitzki change West playoff picture?
When we wrote last month that the Western Conference playoff picture would be filled in by the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves, it was assumed that both teams would have their alpha dogs at power forward. Now that Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Love are both out until at least December, that picture could be changing. Nowitzki and Love both are top-10 players whose presence instantly legitimizes their teams as playoff-worthy, regardless of the other 14 players sharing a locker room and airplane with them.
