The most intriguing team in the NBA this season is unquestionably the Cleveland Cavaliers. And the secocnd-most intriguing team in the NBA this season may be the Chicago Bulls. This summer, the Cavaliers remade themselves from a laughingstock to a legitimate contender with the additions of LeBron James and Kevin Love. Meanwhile, the Bulls are hoping the return of Derrick Rose and the addition of Pau Gasol puts them in the championship chase as well. And both teams play in the Central Division,
Brownout: Cavs GM Griffin no longer interim, Brown fired as coach; Is Ollie a target?
Mike Brown is out after just one year as coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The only question is, who fired him? Brown’s firing was announced in a joint news release that also announced that David Griffin – who replaced fired GM Chris Grant in midseason – would have the interim tag removed from his title and become the general manager. Bernucca: Feeling the Heat, Pacers Had To Make a Move
All season, the Indiana Pacers have maintained that homecourt advantage for the Eastern Conference playoffs, and their chemistry will give them a great chance to dethrone the two-time NBA champion Miami Heat. It also wasn’t enough that the Brooklyn Nets forward’s scoreless night ended with an ejection for a flagrant-2 foul on Pacers guard George Hill. On Tuesday, NBA president of basketball operations Rod Thorn – apparently not in any sort of holiday spirit – fined Pierce $15,000 for his clothesline
Derrick Rose does not have another torn ACL but does need surgery
First, the good news, Derrick Rose does not have another torn ACL. Now, the bad news. Rose does have a medial meniscus tear in his right knee that requires surgery and is out indefinitely. The superstar guard of the Chicago Bulls somewhat dodged a bullet Saturday as an MRI taken in Los Angeles revealed torn cartilage but not a torn ligament. The difference could shorten his absence considerably. [Read more…]
