The Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the Detroit Pistons on Sunday evening and were blown out of the water. The Cavs lacked emotion, effort and chemistry throughout the entire game. Detroit went on to set a franchise record for three pointers made in a game in the 103-80 victory. They knocked down 17 of their 31 attempts from deep, a ridiculous 55% shooting. [Read more…]
Photo of the Day: Timofey Mozgov is a Bloody Mess
On Monday night against the Charlotte Hornets, Timofey Mozgov looked like he belonged on the battlefield. He took an errant elbow from Bismack Biyombo to his left eye, just above it on his forehead, that left him a bloodied mess. Moments after, he got a nice slap in the face from Gerald Henderson to make matters worse. He had to leave the game due to the fact that his entire face was covered in blood, which apparently you can’t play through.
SH Blog: Pacers owner open to bringing back Stephenson, Blazers’ Lopez to miss month with broken hand
Indiana owner Herb Simon would approve of the team re-acquiring former Pacers guard Lance Stephenson in a trade, The Indianapolis Star reports. [Read more…]
Sheridan: Top trade candidates include Stephenson, Rondo
Anybody who signed an NBA contract prior to Sept. 16 is now eligible to be traded. And the “Most Likely” list begins and ends with Lance Stephenson … sort of. In the NBA, you never really know when someone will have a hair trigger and pull off a deal that becomes addition by subtraction (yes, we are talking about you, Stan Van Gundy/Josh Smith). But the primary guy who fits under that subcategory is Stephenson, the prized offseason acquisition of the Charlotte
Tweet of the Day: NBA Twitterverse Reacts to Lance Stephenson Trade Rumors
The Charlotte Hornets – Lance Stephenson experiment may soon be coming to an end. The Hornets have already begun exploring trade options for the shooting guard, reports ESPN’s Marc Stein. It’s unclear what any potential deals would look like, however, the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers, along with a possible return to the Indiana Pacers have all been rumored. Stephenson signed a three-year, $27 million deal with the Hornets in the offseason after negotiations to re-sign with the
Photo of the Day: Nikola Mirotic Forgets How to Walk
Okay, obviously a grown man who is also a professional basketball player didn’t literally forget how to walk. However, Nikola Mirotic was embarrassed and abused by Kemba Walker on Wednesday night when the Bulls matched up against the Hornets. There were a couple instances where Walker made him look silly, but there’s one series in particular that “Niko” would like to forget altogether. If you haven’t seen the whole sequence of this play yet, please take a look and enjoy the
Sheridan: Steve Clifford on the Hot Seat in Charlotte
The team formerly known as the Charlotte Bobcats was supposed to be a heck of a lot better than they are. The Hornets begin this week with a nine-game losing streak, and compounding the misery is the fact that coach Steve Clifford has benched prized offseason acquisition Lance Stephenson in the fourth quarters of several games, including two last week. Under the “we’ve seen this movie before” theory, when a star play is at odds with a losing coach, there is
Bernucca: West’s Advantage Over East Bigger Than Ever
Leave it to Jeff Van Gundy to use the holiday season as another outlet for his vastly underrated sense of humor. During Wednesday’s ESPN telecast of New York-Dallas, the analyst said he was thankful that there were not two Eastern Conferences. But as Thanksgiving quickly morphed into the Christmas shopping season, perhaps Van Gundy could ask Santa Claus for another Western Conference. Because that would allow us to throw out the Eastern Conference with all the torn wrapping paper, ugly sweaters and
