Another day passed by, which meant another day of having to deal with Dwightmare. Orlando’s new general manager Rob Hennigan apparently thought there was a chance to convince the malcontent center to stay home. See how Howard responded, and how far the Houston Rockets are willing to go to acquire him in today’s news: Rob Hennigan tried to talk Dwight Howard into changing his mind about wanting to be traded from the Magic, but Howard would have none of it, from
SH Blog: Players make decisions with official day to sign approaching
With the official day for players to sign contracts finally coming on Wednesday, plenty of decisions were made throughout the day. See all the player movements, trades and other NBA news (some are rather crazy) around the league on Tuesday: Tim Duncan will stay with the San Antonio Spurs, from Johnny Ludden: “Tim Duncan will sign a three-year contract with the Spurs this week, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Duncan’s representatives and the Spurs are finalizing a few items in the contract,
SH Blog: Four teams involved in Dwight Howard trade
We may be in the final stages of seeing a blockbuster trade involving Dwight Howard that would shift the balance of power to the Atlantic Division. It would also signify the end of all the drama that dogged and surrounded Howard over the past several months. See what happened today in the Howard saga, plus other NBA news: Adrian Wojnarowski has the latest news on a mega-trade scenario for Howard: “Talks about a blockbuster four-team trade that would send Orlando Magic
Jeremy Lin, Kyrie Irving on USA Select Team
Linsanity has continued into the offseason as New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin was one of the 13 players chosen for the USA Select Team that train against Team USA in advance of the Olympics. The players were revealed Monday by USA Basketball. The baker’s dozen includes point guards and top overall picks Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers and John Wall of the Washington Wizards. Lin, whose rise from obscurity to stardom earlier this season transcended basketball, missed the playoffs while
The Bernucca List – Edition 25
We didn’t think last week’s edition of The Bernucca List was a stumper, but apparently it was, because no one came up with the right answer. Before we give the answer and move onto this week’s list, we will give everyone another chance. So click here and don’t read any further. Give up? The list is “active coaches who have lost a Game 7 at home.” Boston’s Doc Rivers actually has lost twice in a Game 7 at home – in 2005 to
Fantasy Spin: Friday April 27
Congratulations if you were a winner last night. I’m pleased with my results, including a couple of championships. Finishing second in the 20-team elimination was satisfying and rebuilding went very well in some deep keeper leagues. Every other year, fantasy basketball has ended with the regular season, but I didn’t know about Draft Street before. Looking forward to the challenge of that game throughout the playoffs. There’s also Fantasy Postseason if you like the idea of drafting a team and collecting points
Fantasy Spin: Thursday April 26
This is it! Most Roto leagues end tonight and many Head-to-Head playoff finals conclude, with a busy 13-game slate in the NBA and a lot of guesswork about lineups. I’ve already poured the Gatorade over my own head in one league, with an 8-1 lead, and am hoping for a final-night miracle in another. Best of luck with your teams. Wednesday Recap CHI @ IND: The Bulls used their playoff lineup, with a little less than playoff intensity. Joakim Noah (14 PTS,
Fantasy Spin: Wednesday April 25
In a game that both teams took somewhat seriously, Joe Johnson scored 28 points and Josh Smith (18 PTS, 10 REB, 5 AST) made the most of his 31 minutes. Blake Griffin (36 PTS, 8 REB) and Chris Paul (34 PTS, 8 AST, 2 STL) were stellar in defeat, though CP3 is doubtful tonight with a mild groin strain. Jeff Teague (21) played well for the Hawks and Marvin Williams (11) returned to his sixth-man role. PHO @ UTA: The Jazz
