I have written this before but I haven’t written it in quite some time. When all is said and done on the Sam Hinkie Era, the Philadelphia 76ers will be counting up their multiple titles. Yes, multiple. But no, I do not expect JaVale McGee to be a part of any of that. Emmanuel Mudiay? Yes. Jahlil Okafor or Joel Embiid? Yep. The mad scientist in Philadelphia may just be a mad genius. Yes, it was fashionable to make fun of the young
Photo of the Day: Danilo Gallinari Hangs with Pitbull
For anyone who doesn’t know who Pitbull is, you’re not alone. He is a Latin hip hop/pop singer (I guess?) who is literally on the radio all the time. Denver Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari is apparently a fan of his, for some strange reason. He attended his concert on Tuesday night, which is where today’s Photo of the Day comes from. [Read more…]
SH Blog: Suns, Dragic drive PG market as deadline looms; Jazz set Kanter price
The NBA’s trade deadline is now under 48 hours away at 3 p.m. Eastern time Thursday, and it’s the Phoenix Suns who seem to be driving the market. The Suns are expected to meet Tuesday with Bill Duffy, the agent for Goran Dragic. The assumption, of course, is that the Suns would like an indication from their point guard on his offseason plans. He’ll be a free agent in July and is said to be eyeing an “open” free agency. And with a star like Dragic
SH Blog: Melo “Likely” to Shut Down After ASG, Kevin Love Sits With Eye Injury
Carmelo Anthony’s knee has been a problem for basically the entire season, and there have been reports of him shutting down for the season on multiple occasions. Well, that report might actually come to life after this weekend’s All-Star festivities. There is another report that surfaced on Thursday that Melo is “likely” to shut it down after the events in New York this weekend. [Read more…]
Photo of the Day: Ty Lawson and the Smurf Gang Chain
We know that professional athletes are very well compensated for what they do. We also know that sometimes, what professional athletes spend their money on and how much they spend on certain things can get a little ridiculous. I have not seen this before that I can recall, but Denver Nuggets guard Ty Lawson posted a picture of something he bought for himself on Friday night. [Read more…]
Sheridan: Trade Deadline Lookahead — Who Will be Active?
We don’t get many seasons like this in the NBA, with so many trades happening so early before the deadline. It used to be that GMs would hold out until the last minute, and then the trade queue at NBA headquarters would get jammed at 2:59 p.m. on deadline day. But this year? Chances are it’ll be more quiet than usual. Rajon Rondo has already be traded. Jameer Nelson has already been traded twice. The Cleveland Cavaliers solved their problems in
SH Blog: Stephenson to Brooklyn Talks Heat Up, Jennings Out for Year
In yet another drama-filled week in the NBA, Lance Stephenson has managed to find his way into the mix again. There have been plenty of talks regarding the Charlotte Hornets swingman’s future in recent weeks, most notably ending in his being dealt before the trade deadline. The Hornets have been playing much better basketball as of late, but it’s the opposite side of the coin for the Brooklyn Nets, who have lost eight of their last 10 games and have dropped
Bernucca: For West Teams, Trade Grades as Deadline Arrives Early
After last week’s loss in Atlanta, Memphis Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger – whose team has the fifth-best record in the NBA – lamented his roster’s shortcomings. “We have to get another playmaker on the floor,” Joerger said. “We’re going to have to start playing multiple point guards (at the same time). We’ve got to be able to get inside of defenses.” It doesn’t matter that the Grizzlies have been at or near the top of the league for most of the season.
