In the first of two games last night, Kevin Durant/OKC led the Thunder to a home win over the tired Clippers. In the nightcap, the Bulls couldn’t find their shooting range from outside and the Nuggets survived a mediocre performance from Ty Lawson/DEN to win a halfcourt oriented game over Chicago. As expected, most of the games last night were tightly contested. The exception was the Heat’s relatively easy victory over the Orlando Magic. The audience witnessed the first NBA start for Victor Oladipo/ORL, and saw the best and worst of him. The rookie filled the stat sheet, but also turned the ball over far too many times to be a successful point guard. In the nightcap, the Grizzlies prevailed in overtime over the Curry-less Warriors. The Sacramento Kings took advantage of the absence of Eric Bledsoe/PHO and rallied late in the fourth quarter to beat the visiting Suns. It was a key win after the demolition suffered at the hands of the Grizzlies in their last home game, during which most of the starters were benched. Blowouts were expected but none came. Portland overcame terrible first quarter defense and pulled away from the Nets in the second half on the strength of superior outside shooting. In Oklahoma, the Thunder rallied to win the expected shootout against the Nuggets. The Raptors fell behind the Trail Blazers in the third quarter before rallying to send the game to overtime. Portland eventually prevailed, on the strength of their three-point shooting. There was a flurry of injury news leading up to the evening action yesterday. Word came down that the Nets would be without Deron Williams/BKN, Brook Lopez/BKN and Paul Pierce/BKN.
