Daily fantasy leagues are much more exciting than I expected. As a veteran of Roto and Head-to-Head play whose ‘specialty’ is 20-team leagues, I love the challenge and the fun of drafting a new team — or several — every day. It’s become an enjoyable hobby to use the fantasy hoops knowledge that helps me manage those traditional teams to dabble in $2 and $5 leagues at DraftStreet. There are three types of drafts. Pick ‘Em leagues are great because they

Kobe & Dwight Score 31 Each in Easy Lakers Win; Nuggets Edge Blazers in OT
What a great effort by the Trail Blazers to force overtime, where they came up just short. Ty Lawson played through an illness (24 PTS, 11 AST) and Kenneth Faried (21 PTS, 11 REB) crashed the boards as Denver overcame a 4-for-16 night by Andre Iguodala to prevail. [Read more…]
Bernucca: Lackluster Lakers fooling themselves and their fans
Dwight Howard dominates the paint on both ends, Kobe Bryant plays less than 30 minutes for the first time this season, Steve Nash runs the offense with precision, the defense has its best game in weeks and the Lakers run away with a 20-point win in their Sunday home whites. So, everything’s back to normal again in Tinseltown, right? Who cares that it was against the Cavaliers, who lose three of every four games they play? Or that Cleveland was missing Anderson Varejao, their best

It’s too bad the Knicks play only once this week. Not even Carmelo Anthony (27 PTS, 7 REB) is worth starting in weekly-lineup formats if you have another option. The big fantasy news is the promotion of Chris Copeland (22 PTS, 4 REB) to the starting five alongside Melo. [Read more…]
Hubbard: The ‘long-running’ Lakers Tragicomedy
Does it seem to anyone else like we’ve had about five years of Lakers seasons in the first, well, a little over two months of this season? What was it? About four years ago when we were all enthralled by the slick maneuver that brought Dwight Howard to Los Angeles? And how about that sign-and-trade for Steve Nash? Three years ago? [Read more…]
Kotoch: 2013 Draft a Strong Year for One and Done Players
The NBA draft is all about projections and potential. A generation ago, most NBA executives’ strategy was to compare prospects based on their collegiate careers. Then the Fab Five arrived at Michigan, and suddenly the process was flipped upside down. Underclassmen were scrutinized, analyzed and scouted thoroughly by NBA clubs who wanted to get the next big-time prospect. While prospects with high upside are intriguing, they come with more risk than upperclassmen. The lottery is annually dominated by underclassmen, primarily freshmen. [Read
